Both the author and the National Post must retract, apologize and reverse this message at once. Samira Mohyeddin /jau Absolutely diabolical. Writing Lewis "presents a clear and present danger to the Jewish community" & other Jews are "duty- bound to = NATIONAL POST Yoni Goldstein: Jewish law tells us how to deal with Avi Lewis His Yom Kippur message was indefensible By Yoni Goldstein, Special to National Post Published Sep 29, 2026 Last updated 17 hours ago 4 minute read • 190 Comments

S..

@SMohyeddin • 10h = NATIONAL POST None of this applies, however, when a Jewish person presents a clear and present danger to the Jewish community. When that happens, Jewish thought is much more forceful: you must prevent the perpetrator from causing harm. Jewish law developed two character sketches to describe such scenarios. The first is known as a "mosar" — a Jewish person who informs to oppressive authorities, potentially leading to the imprisonment, torture or death of community members. The second, called a "rodef," refers to a Jew who is actively pursuing another with the intent to harm or kill them. In both scenarios, the law is clear that a jew is duty-bound to step in. Protecting the community and its members is the most important thing. 244

It would be good if we didn't have to wait another month for our flu shots. (If you're eligible now, hop on it, people.)
While respiratory illnesses typically ramp up in the fall, particularly in October, health authorities on P.E.I. are already reporting confirmed cases and hospitalizations. Alberta, B.C. and southwestern Ontario are also reporting an earlier-than-usual rise in illnesses, with increases beginning as early as September. Farther west, Yukon’s chief medical officer said lab-confirmed cases of influenza A have been identified since mid-August.

On Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, settlers like me have no excuse not to work harder toward reconciliation. Canada has a horrific legacy of genocidal acts perpetrated against Indigenous Peoples upon whose stolen and unceded lands we live. Here's a book I recently read/recommend:
Cover of 'Everyday Reconciliation, published in 2026 and co-authored by Derek Aronhie:nens Montour, an Indigenous man who grew up on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Territory, and Swedish immigrant to Canada, Elin Sandberg Miller. With personal stories and perspectives shared from each and tips to make reconciliation an everyday goal
and act. The image is of a book with a red cover and two white speaker bubbles intersecting with a colourful feather illustrated overtop of where the speaking bubbles intersect. Photo credit: Nancy Forde.
