@tadethompson.bsky.social You just appeared in my Instagram feed.
From forbiddenfutures on Instagram, a screenshot of a comment by Tade Thompson on Bluesky. The comment goes

"Youtuber: Here's how Stephen King wrote so much in his early career. Habit. Discipline of writing every day. Following his passion. That's the secret sauce to productivity.

Stephen King: It was cocaine. Also alcohol, but mainly cocaine. There's an entire book I don't even remember writing."

I know this pleases everyone's priors, but you'll notice that there's no sourcing and it actually contradicts internal policy documents. Recruitment bonuses aren't paid by ICE until after the completion of a probationary period. You can't be forced to repay money you don't have yet.
An employing office will delay the starting date of a service agreement until after an employee completes an initial period of formal training or required probationary period when continued employment in the position is contingent on successful completion of the formal training or probationary period. While the employing office must make the determination to pay a recruitment bonus before the employee enters on duty, the service agreement must specify that if the employee does not successfully complete the training or probationary period before the service period begins, then the employing office is not obligated to pay any portion of the recruitment bonus to the employee.

Io moth caterpillar.
Pictured on a young ash tree sapling and nibbling new leaves is an Io moth caterpillar. The branch goes from bottom left to upper right and the caterpillar is on the right side of the branch, which means it’s partly upside down. Its head at the top of the branch is curled in as it eats, so it looks a little like a slanted question mark. The caterpillar is the green of new spring leaves, the same green as the new leaves of the young ash. With the sun on it, it looks almost neon green, with a white-on-red stripe down both its sides. It has spiny green tufts on its head and along its back and smaller ones along its sides, and it has red feet. There are four white-spotted red triangles in a row along its belly—they look like pizza slices or elongated strawberries.

Hurried phone photo. Sadly, the lilac is in better focus than the butterfly.
An Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (yellow and black butterfly) spreads its wings while perched on a lilac branch, with green leaves and a blue sky in the background and a fly caught zooming by in the upper right corner.

@wompanafrank.bsky.social a visitor. Nibbling or getting ready to blow the seeds? (It looks almost like it's blowing a white gum bubble.)
Eastern cottontail in clover nibbling on a seeded dandelion. The photo is face on so it looks a little like the rabbit is blowing a white bubble.

What’s especially funny to me about this is that even if someone accepted that the chatbot is making art, we’d never say the person entering the *prompts* is making it. Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel, not whatever Pope I can’t remember who said “go paint this”.

Autocrats do not follow the "rule of law." Autocrats "rule by law." They use the law capriciously to reward their friends and punish their enemies. The do not allow the law to bind them and their cronies, they use the law as a cudgel to punish others. Authoritarian law doesn't protect, it punishes.

@kenwhite.bsky.social This randomly popped up in my Instagram feed, complete with analysis.
The screenshot is from hitoshi_ninja account on Instagram and is an image of a Twitter post by @prafxis saying, "one of the most brutal KOs i've ever seen on this site," in turn referring to a screenshot of a 2022 post in which Twitter account @J_Schneider says, "Please know, if you're someone who brings a book to the bar . . . nobody likes you" and @Popehat (Ken White) responds with "How much of your life, expressed as a percentage, have you spent gesturing for women to take out their earbuds?"From the Instagram account hitoshi_ninja: The provided image captures a viral social media exchange that has become a classic example of a "digital knockout." The interaction begins with a tweet from Jeremy Schneider, who posts a highly judgmental take: "Please know, if you're someone who brings a book to the bar... nobody likes you." This brand of gatekeeping suggests that public spaces like bars have rigid social rules, framing solitary activities like reading as pretentious or unwelcome. However, the screenshot highlights the swift and surgical rebuttal from the prominent legal commentator and blogger known as Popehat (@Popehat).
Popehat's response-"How much of your life, expressed as a percentage, have you spent gesturing for women to take out their earbuds?"-is a masterclass in rhetorical redirection.
Rather than defending the merits of reading, Popehat identifies the underlying "entitlement" in Schneider's post.
The reply implies that Schneider is the type of person who feels entitled to the attention of strangers and views personal boundaries (like a book or earbuds) as obstacles to his own social desires. By shifting the focus from the reader's
"likability" to the critic's potential history of ignoring social cues, the comeback resonated with thousands, effectively branding the original take as not just unpopular, but fundamentally intrusive.
