Andrew Lawston @andrewlawston.bsky.social · 19/09/2026It's very funny that Harper Collins is dropping the Walliams backlist. But it could also just be a contractual/commercial decision rather than a sign that big news is about to break. Don't misunderstand me, I'll be the first to post ghoulishly about it if I'm wrong. But manage your expectations. 110

Andrew Lawston @andrewlawston.bsky.social · 13/09/2026So, idly working on another translation, this time from 1897. An American woman of mixed heritage is described as a "R**sk*n" several times in the space of a page. The context is that the hero is furious about the racism she's encountered. But... can I knowingly include this slur? #writing 010
Andrew Lawston @andrewlawston.bsky.social · 06/09/2026I just had my first "smells like AI" review. Quite apart from anything else, the book was published back in 2020, before all this bullshit kicked off. My books don't make any money as it is. I'm having a real "why bother?" moment. 120
Andrew Lawston @andrewlawston.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Note to self: 8:30am on a Sunday is probably too early to start ranting about CBeebies cartoon Duck & Frog being a sad indictment of the gig economy's dystopian hellscape, inuring children into becoming insecure wage slave drones. Suffice it to say, Frog is the real hero. 021
