I think about how The New Yorker approached the subject of Pablo Escobar from the pov of window repairmen... a cartel bomb in Bogota meant a brisk day for glaziers. If I can give one piece of writing advice, it's tackle the big sideways with the small -- especially when the small says it all.

There's a company developing a contact lens that accesses a databases of faces and floats (for your eyes only) a person's name over their heads. Suddenly, I'm awesome at parties.

Jury selection today, the defense attorney asked me, "Screenwriter? Have I seen anything?" I listed some shows, and the defendant exclaimed, "Hannibal?! Goddamn, I love Hannibal!" The attorney hissed for him to be quiet, but I pointed to the guy,"Right on, thanks!" Booted! #scriptsky #fannibals

I'd love a biopic about why, after winning 12 Grammies, Stevie Wonder said yes in 1978 to writing a double-album soundtrack to a documentary about plants.

Fascinated with the concept of a house spider. Do you choose the spider or does the spider choose you? Do you leave the door open a little extra to draw in juicy insects? Will I hurt its feelings if I name it Shelob -- or will that go to its head?

When I first got on bluesky, I made a crack about how nice it'll be for zombies to discover a plastic spoons-worth of microplastics already in our brains... and a guy dm'd me to explain it's not a literal spoon. I still think about that guy. (And his brain.)

Ishiguro is at his very best when he's writing science fiction. Artificial insight, disposability and the certainty of revelation. If Taika Waititi is still adapting, I trust the guy to make this into something truly special.

I saw lucha libre in Mexico City! A mask was ripped off mid-fight and the crowd went bonnnnnkers. I swear people were gonna rush the ring. Then the offender stuffed the guy's mask down his pants, an insult beyond insults. I mean. I guess I'm a massive fan of luchadors now.

My first (probably only) Jonathan Kellerman novel, 18 of 41 in the series. Probably an unfair way to sample psychologist/detective Alex Delaware. Weirdly timid. More narrative flair around the characters' pie choices than the murders. LA noir has never been so, well, flavorless. #booksky
