Turning up to a community event you've never been to before and completely misunderstanding the point because an ex-pro athlete on Twitter willfully refuses to understand it. Then insisting said community event needs to change and make members of that community less welcome. Baffling arrogance.

This is what we apparently can't call a war crime as part of what is clearly, even openly stated by some members of the Israeli government as, a genocide. Another new Prime Minister who can't seem to find the words for what we can all see and must be in his briefings. Shame on all of us.

I have done interviews with two trans women in cycling and their stories will stay with me forever. Instead of talking about trans people, talk with them and hear their stories. One of the worst things about the current culture wars, is the war on trans people. It makes me angry and very sad.

Andrew Burnie @andrewburnie.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Well that sucks. The reduction of trans experience to them being people "who are male and who think that because they put on a dress, and they put on make-up" is horrible. The argument that it's all just made up has been used against LGBT people for so long, they're not new. Still vile.

If Miliband's comparatively mild, caveated, and strictly targeted criticism of Israeli settler actions are enough to endanger the UK Jewish community & unleash pogroms then: a) We've passed some point of no return. b) Successive UK governments have utterly failed in addressing antisemitism.

JK Rowling has engaged in Holocaust denial. She denies the fact that nazis raided the Magnus Hirschfeld institute and burned all their books which contained the first research on trans people.
Screenshot of a post on X by J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) quote-tweeting another user.
Rowling's caption reads: "I just... how? How did you type this out and press send without thinking ‘I should maybe check my source for this, because it might’ve been a fever dream’?"
The quoted post states: "The Nazis burnt books on trans healthcare and research, why are you so desperate to uphold their ideology around gender?"

Can't be the first to say this, but (and yay UEFA - brilliant) this works equally well if you swap out "football" for maybe "water" or "a stable climate". Look at me being the revolutionary socialist. "No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation."
The moment external investors acquire ownership interests in
FIFA competitions, football changes forever. Commercial return becomes a permanent obligation. Investor expectations become a daily pressure. From that moment onwards, every decision on the international calendar, every decision on competition formats and every decision shaping the future of football is no longer driven by what best serves the game, but by what best serves shareholders.
This model has no place in world football. Football's future cannot be dictated by the expectations of those whose first duty is to maximise financial return. Nor can the interests of national associations, leagues, clubs, players and supporters become subordinate to investor returns. Football cannot mortgage its future for financial gain.
Europe's position is clear. We will never lend this model our legitimacy. No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation.
