Old bag. Still, at least I can now get a ‘flu jab. Plagued by impending sense of doom and a small haughty cat called Daphne Whitethighs.

No-one famous but I think they look pretty stylish. My mum and dad on the left and two friends. Dad bought the car with his student grant and sold it for £17.

I really hope the publication of biographies of Anita Brookner and Barbara Cartland at more of less the same time creates a literary Barbenheimer effect.

Cringe moment as a memory flashes into my mind of the time I wrote to someone apologising for not having written sooner and explaining that it was because I was “extremely busty”.

An interesting case. Naturist walks naked along a path at 6 30 in the morning, unfortunately for him, bumping into an off duty copper on the way. Is fined £800 for a ‘disorderly’ act -one which might cause fear, alarm etc. www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/u...

I’m in the doghouse with my aunt as I’ve accidentally put my address on her Ocado order so I’ve just had a massive delivery of truffle crisps, Assam tea, Lindt chocolate and poached salmon which all count as basics for 95 year old ladies.

I used to love this programme. I see there were guest appearances by both Brian Blessed and Colin Welland on this episode. The noise on set must have been deafening!

This is so interesting. We stayed a couple of times near Gualdo in Marche. There was an account/diary in the house of the exact same circumstances of the abandonment of the camp. A local farm took in a couple of the escapees and kept them for the rest of the war and the account described that too.

AI advocates say we have no right to stop innovation in the free market. Hogwash. We don’t allow corporations to come up with new nuclear weapons or varieties of cocaine or biological pathogens. We protect the public from certain kinds of innovation. We need guardrails on AI before it’s too late.

If they’re all so rich and fascinated by medieval embroidery and history, it makes you wonder why they never bothered to go and see the tapestry when it was in Bayeux. There’s a caravan site in Honfleur that I could have recommended if they wanted to save money.

If you have a few minutes to spare, you could do worse than to read the Wikipedia entry for Gunby Hadath who wrote school stories. I stumbled on it accidentally and it is like an episode of Ripping Yarns with an attribution subplot as good as Shakespeare v Bacon.
