There are many symbols of the failure of technology: the Tacoma Narrows Bridge swaying in a gale, the ringpull that comes off in your fingers leaving the tin still unopened , but chief among these failures, is that you can't search your own photos on Instagram.

I was deeply honoured (and tickled) whilst driving south yesterday to hear I had been made Patreon Queen of the week for Talk 90's, doubly so to be mentioned on this excellent Andy Weatherall edition. It's one of my favourite pods, filled with people who know, talking about things they love.

Drive By-Troll Having been inside all year I spotted a Hillman Imp in a garage it was metallic green with a mustard stripe The light from the shed roof spotlit its glory Later online Tony from Northampton told me "Hillman's were shit mate". #NationalPoetryDay

Over on IG, Americans are back discussing #GBBO they've discovered NL and it's worse than them discussing the World Cup or pretty anything else . Can't they just wind their necks in and go back to banning books and bad spelling .

I think part of the surprise is the sudden change in tone and that it's just a bit of "afternoon delight " for both of them not an ongoing plot point or romance

TBH I think most things don't need instant delivery, there should some middle ground of "it'll definitely be there next Wednesday and we'll deliver it when you're in and knock loud enough so you'll hear and pay our staff a decent wage "

Train passes through Purley a vale-bound ghost of old suburbia now benighted and entropic. Deeply eerie and fascinating. It has the feel of some once grand Amazonian city subsumed by dank nature, an exhausted 20th Century hub dragged into desuetude by the thalloid might of the lower plants.

All these folk compiling playlists of pop songs so they stay relevant or au courant it all sounds like homework to me . If pop music is any good it'll find you: by leaking out of car windows, playing in the caff, or thumping across the fields from the local fairground

Name a film with a female director. "Can You Ever Forgive Me?" 2018 directed by Marielle Heller, with a screenplay by Nicole Holofcener and Jeff Whitty. I really love this film , I've said before I'd happily watch the 2 main characters interact without the caper plot. Melissa McCarthy is brilliant

Despite loving Sherlock Holmes I have only just discovered that back in 1982 US producer Sy Weintraub planned to adapt six Sherlock Holmes stories for TV unaware that copyright had lapsed in the UK, and Granada had started filming a Holmes TV series with Jeremy Brett. 1/2

They are celebrating Gilles Peterson on #6Music , one thing I've loved about his shows, since forever , is just the vibe, they feel communal, even when he doesn't have a guest or session on . It's not some crass "zoo" format it's a groove

Just rang one of the outpatients departments that's now in the centre of town. It's a niche service, I've used since I was a teenager and schlepping into a big hospital has always been a pain . But having services like this in town is great. #somethingsDoGetBetter

Odd to think , when many of us* have done it or know someone who has, that jumping out of a plane was so relatively new back in WWII. There would be loads of paratroopers who the first time they flew in a plane they jumped out of it . * Not me never ever ever .

I do like Sunday mornings on here, as folk potter around posting tidbits of interesting things they've found, pictures of their cooked breakfasts , the odd review , not too much ranting . "And all the time going to Coney Island I'm thinking, Wouldn't it be great if it was like this all the time"
