Just had to use a card reader. Was there ever a more irritating banking technology. The only reason I had to use it was because their site wouldn't let me amend a standing order amount because the SO predated all this business/personal exact name mullarkey so I had to cancel it and set it up again 🙄

The UK’s overprescription epidemic - a special @thetimes.com podcast on my recent reporting of this huge, wicked problem. An absolute delight to be joined by @jkdhesi.bsky.social to give us her expert view on this "threat to patient safety". Have a listen and share: pod.link/1501716010/e...

I have been to the leisure centre pool for a swim and it has reminded me why I started open water instead. It will be handy if/when I really can't hack the cold, I guess.

Grey, wet and really quite dark morning. Going to head to the leisure centre and see about the senior card and maybe swim if they've space. Then a jolly afternoon on September books and MTD and VAT quarter end. The accountant has sent me some videos to watch.

You guys want to hear a short but adorable story that happened right in front of me at the baggage claim in NYC yesterday? I wasn't part of it and there are bits I didn't catch but holy crap, I can't stop thinking about it.

Started this today. I'm considering getting a book out of the classic section every month, although I'm trying not to make it a hard rule as I will obviously then resist reading it. This was recommended by someone on here.

Going to finish reading this, the book that I started at 4am and set aside at 6 to finally go back to bed. I thought it might help me feel less sorry for my overheating, insomniac self.

Not a genre I read much in but I've rattled through this in a day as the premise was compelling. (Although that'll do for this sort of book for a while)

Current book has many words of wisdom and is an easy read. Most useful bit of advice so far: If you have to choose between guilt and resentment, choose guilt.

The image is of a four panel comic.
The title is “Cats living together”.
The first panel shows a black cat and orange cat cuddling with their eyes closed. The orange cat says “I love you”. The black cat says “I love you too”.
The second panel zooms in on them.
The third panel shows the orange cat opening its eyes.
The fourth panel shows the orange cat raising its paw to punch the black cat. It says, “Actually you know what”.

Just do it. For two distinct reasons: 1. Your data moves to Europe. 2. The act of migrating is educational: It’ll help you understand what the AT protocol is and why it’s a hugely promising technology. If you’re in the business of knowledge, broadly conceived, ignore #atproto at your peril.
