My nine-year-old got an old Brother typewriter for Christmas, and is writing a screenplay. When she gets to the end of a line and it dings, she goes, “yay!” I now realize how sad it is that this is missing from writing on computers. I would write more for a ding. I really would.

"narrate your day" ❤️ Narrating what you're doing, whether as a parent, teacher, mentor/boss, bridges knowledge gaps, increases language exposure, and makes whatever you're doing clear(er). Make it even better by turning it into a back-and-forth conversation — even if the baby is merely babbling.

(2) As above, universal prevention can have negative effects. We find that among high quality studies 1/3 of universal school-based interventions report at least one negative outcome. When positive effects are found, these are often unstained, and further diluted when delivered in the real world.
