Sheeran said he wouldn't cancel shows in solidarity cos that would deprive the support acts of their publicity and income. He evidently didn't ask them what they wanted to do as now that they've all pulled out and it's telling that Sheeran is carrying on even though his justification has fallen away

New: Macklemore says Robert Kraft — who owns Gillette Stadium, where Macklemore & Ed Sheeran were to perform later this month — called Sheeran. Kraft rallied other owners together behind an ultimatum for Sheeran: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you won't be allowed in our venues.

I'm not sure how to start this. So I'm going to speak from the heart and share the truth. Ed Sheeran and his team have made the decision to remove me from The Loop tour.
But before I get into it, I want to say something that should be obvious. In this moment I think it matters. I am not a victim. Ed Sheeran is not a victim. Pink is not a victim. We have careers, money, opportunities, safety and audiences around the world. Whatever consequences any of us face for what we say, we get to go home to our families.

The victims are the Palestinian people. The men, women and children who have been killed, starved, displaced and forced to live through unimaginable violence. More than 20,000 children have been killed in Gaza alone. People are being killed today, and people will be killed tomorrow. I want to make sure that as I tell this story, we don't lose sight of that.

Ed is my friend. I've known him for 13 years. We've shared late nights, studio sessions and stages. He has this infectious magic about him that I've grown to love. I consider him a brother. And because of that, we've had some difficult conversations this past week. The type of talks rooted in love and respect for one another that still end in a place of fundamental disagreement. Nothing I'm writing here is out of spite or because I want to tear down his character. But as I told Ed multiple times on the phone, our friendship can't change my responsibility to tell the truth about what happened.

Last Monday, in the middle of all the media attention surrounding Pink and what I said at MetLife, Ed told me that Robert Kraft called him. We were scheduled to play Gillette Stadium later this month, which is owned by the Kraft Group. Ed told me that Kraft said I would not be allowed to perform in his stadium. Ed also told me that Kraft had rallied some of the other
stadium owners and collectively they gave him an ultimatum: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you will not be allowed to play in our venues.

Ed was in …What I said at MetLife I have been saying on stages around the world for almost three years. So why is it an issue now? Because now I'm sharing a stage with one of the biggest artists in the world, in some of the biggest stadiums in America. At a certain level of exposure, "Free Palestine" becomes too much of a risk. If I kept doing the shows, saying Free Palestine, with Ed implicitly supporting it, the crowd getting loud and showing undeniable support for Palestinian liberation, what artist might speak out next? The stage becomes resistance. Maybe that's why this time it became so important to silence me.

And one of the most effective ways to enforce that silence has been to weaponize the accusation of antisemitism. Antisemitism is real. And that is exactly why the word matters too much to be used as a shield against criticism of the Israeli state. When criticizing Israel, opposing Zionism or saying "Free Palestine" gets conflated with hatred of Jewish people, it doesn't protect Jewish people. It protects Israel from accountability.

I hope this isn't the end of my relationship with Ed.
Thirteen years of friendship doesn't disappear because of one painful disagreement. I hope we both continue listening, studying what is happening in Palestine and wrestling with what neutrality means in a moment like this. My door will always be open to continuing that conversation.

When my brother Omar was doing the subtitles for the video I posted from MetLife, I thanked him. He told me there's a phrase in Arabic:
لا شكر على واجب
"La shukra ala wajeb." There is no thanks for a duty.
That stayed with me. Because that's what this has become for me and millions of others around the world. A duty. Not something deserving of praise or gratitude. Not brave. Human.

Who is winning the internet, who is getting canceled, who gets to play the stadium and who doesn't, all of it becomes so small when held against what we are actually witnessing in Gaza and the West Bank. An entire people be…

The Levy Review of England’s GICs concluded that waiting times were unacceptable, that this had serious knock on effects on patient welfare, and that the unnecessary waits for surgery also put unnecessary additional strain on the services (requiring repeated, redundant 6 monthly reviews)

Immediate steps must be taken, and all commissioned GDCs need to work as a national network to deliver patient pathway improvements.

Note the use of “intention” in this exception, it’s a glaring admission that the NHS’s “gender exploratory therapy” is conversion therapy with the explicit intent to deny the person’s gender identity
A screenshot of part of the Conversion Practices draft bill, as follows:

(3) Conduct which—
(a) is carried out by a person towards an individual with such an intention, but
(b) is carried out in the course of providing health care services to the individual concerned,
is not a conversion practice unless the person acts in a way that falls far below the standards reasonably expected of a person in their position.

The draft bill allows for conversation practices which aren't "abusive", or which are abusive but don't cause "serious harm" to someone's physical or mental health. Abusive conversion practices that cause serious harm are allowed in healthcare even if the conduct falls below professional standards.

Not only mentioning the plaque, but other counts as well, which are documented at length. Menon KC's closing statement is worth a read, I think www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/u...
Indeed, it was as long ago as 1670 that the independence of the jury was definitively established
beyond question. William Penn and William Mead were Quakers; they were prosecuted for
preaching to an unlawful assembly. It was a crime in 1670, this is about 20, 30 years after the
end of the English Civil War, to have a religious assembly of more than five people outside the
auspices of the Church of England.
And what William Penn and William Mead had done was they had preached to a group of ore
than five people on the streets of London; they stood trial at the Old Bailey before a judge and
jury. At the end of the evidence the judge directed the jury to convict, the jury refused to
convict.
The judge was furious, he ordered the jury to convict again and stated that they would not be
dismissed until they did so; the jury again refused to convict. The judge remanded the entire
jury in custody for two days and ordered that they be denied all food and water. As the jurors
were being taken from court to prison, William Penn, it is said, shouted out, ‘You are
Englishmen, mind your privilege, give not away your right’, to which one member of the jury,
Edward Bushell, it is said, replied, ‘Nor shall we ever do’.
When the jury returned to court two days later, having not had any food or water for that period,
the judge again ordered them to convict; the jury continued to refuse and returned a verdict of
not guilty. The judge was determined not to let the matter lie; he fined the jury for contempt of
court and remanded them in custody until the fines were paid. Eight jurors paid their fines, four
jurors refused to pay and one of those jurors was Edward Bushell.
Edward Bushell then petitioned a Higher Court in what is called a writ of [habeas] corpus, which if issued by the court would result in his immediate release from custody. The Higher
Court issued that writ and Edward Bushell and the three other jurors were released, thereby
establishing the right of a jury to return a verdict without fear of punishment from the trial
judge.
Now, this legal challenge by Edward Bushell has come to be known as Bushell’s Case and is
one of the most celebrated cases in British legal history. There is a marble plaque inside the
Old Bailey in Central London, which reads as follows: ‘Near this site, William Penn and
William Mead were tried in 1670 for preaching to an unlawful assembly in Grace Church
Street. This tablet commemorates the courage and endurance of the jury, Thomas Vere, Edward
Bushell and 10 others, who refused to give a verdict against them, although locked up without
food for two nights and were fined for their final verdict of not guilty. The case of these jury
men was reviewed under a writ of [habeas] corpus and Chief Justice Vaughan delivered the
opinion of the Court, which established the right of juries to give their verdict according to
their convictions’.
So, bringing that all together, members of the jury, you can find Charlotte and her
co-defendants not guilty of criminal damage; it is a perfectly fair and proper verdict for you to
return in this case. Please do not for one second think that you are somehow barred as a matter
of law from doing so, indeed, you should find Charlotte and her co-defendants not guilty of
criminal damage.
