I am disappointed but not surprised by this development. BlueSky is failing the community by refusing to act on their Community Guidelines and they are failing the community by refusing to give substantial improvements for community moderation. "Just block" is not safety. This policy is a failure.

I support this petition. BlueSky cannot cede all moderation responsibility to a community this big. I believe in community moderation but it is not a full replacement for central moderation. I am one of the biggest moderation labels. Even if I have 10 subscribers for every like, that is 0.1% usage.

While I hope to avoid false positives, my tolerance is currently lower given that most of the reports are obvious trolls, so false positives are more likely. FYI: For operational efficiency, I have taken to marking many of the new account trolls just with the "Transphobia (General)" label even though all three labels often apply. Once an account label is applied, there is nothing else I can do. No need to keep sending reports in for them. 🧡

I must commend the BlueSky Trust and Safety team for their improved handling of reports. Even dealing with large spam waves, they are sometimes even faster than me! It is an impressive shift compared to earlier this year. Still, it would be nice if being "gender critical" was suspendable outright.

For additional clarification: This includes the phrase "DollSky". The primary trans woman who ever used that phrase is an abuser who is no longer on BlueSky. I read this phrase as equivalent to saying "T*****Sky". I understand my words fall on deaf ears, but please stop using that phrase!

Additionally, I trust that I do not need to clarify that referring to trans women as bitches, cunts, skanks, whores, trollops, dolls, broads, etc is something I consider to be transmisogynistic. "Doll" especially, as this is an affectionate word among trans women, not a general word for trans women.

In light of recent events and with repeated past attempts at weaponizing reports, I am changing how I apply the "Misgendering & Deadnaming" label. From now on it will only be applied in situations where there is a clear disrespect being given to identity instead of also being used for mistakes.

For clarity: While I do not think I need to clarify this to any trans people, "Just Asking Question" behavior does fall squarely under the "Transphobia (General)" label. The label descriptions are intentionally broad, however given recent reports, I would like to make this explicit for cis people.
