I believe fraternity hazing and military hazing and sports team hazing where men abuse each other is acclimating them into a broader culture of abuse where they will then believe it is their right to abuse other more vulnerable people. It’s so insidious. And that’s also why I think men defend it

I was so enchanted by Rebel!Kotallo and Commander!Kotallo from @hauntsjello’s amazing fic ‘before that, and colder’ on AO3, I had to sketch them. Do go and read it if you haven’t already, it’s so so good
Sketch of an alternate universe Kotallo wearing rebel armour in Regalla’s colours (red, green, white and black). His face paint is mostly white with one blood red stripe going from his forehead down to his chin, and two shorter stripes down from either side of his mouth. An alternate universe Kotallo who is Commander of the Sky Clan. He wears Sky Clan pink and blue armour lined with furs and a heavy fur cloak that hides a lot of his form, including his arms, one of which may or may not be injured in a similar way to the original Kotallo’s.

My favorite part about learning history is relating whatever I’m learning about to some influential work of art. It makes me sad to see people not getting to enjoy that because of this current Literacy Crisis. And then I’m reminded that that’s why we don’t ever learn from our mistakes as a society.

The problem with education is that it's a solved problem. Students need small classes, individual attention, lots of writing, lots of feedback, access to a well-stocked library, time to think, and time to talk with their peers. We just don't like the answer, so we keep trying to do other stuff.
