I feel like we don’t talk about millennials in particular, hitting our 40s - in earlier generations many of us would be reaching the peak of our careers, but because of disaster after disaster, locust after locust eating our industries, many of us are on our 3rd or 4th fresh start.

Handing out shots to our valiant in-between artists. In those days, our "asset management" consisted of manila envelopes. It's not a popular opinion, but I feel we've lost something in the move to digital everything (we really used to enjoy checking BG and animation on paper...)

Old-school asset tracking / project management for all of our sixteen hundred plus shots (black strips are shots that were dropped). This was on the wall by the entrance to our floor

Brilliant character designer and lead animation supervisor (総作画監督) Shojiro Nishimi. By the end of the show his right arm was covered with medicated menthol plasters...

Love this guy and in awe of his talent.

Art director Shinji Kimura's desk after hours. My copy of Bernd and Hilla Becher's WATER TOWERS on the floor — the shapes in there inspired much of Kiddie Kastle's design.

Needless to say, his desk is tidier now that the work has gone digital.
