Here’s what we really need to focus a lot more discussion on — you don’t need to hate cars in order to want people to have the CHOICE to walk, bike and take public transit in your city. Better cities provide more choices, and work better for EVERYONE. Bad cities offer only dependency. #CarDependency

Just watching the CEO of Metrolinx blaming the disastrous cuts to the GO train schedule on ‘the World Cup.’ Apparently nobody thought about staff holiday scheduling in the decade of lead up to hosting FIFA. How do these people keep their jobs? The incompetence is stunning.

I can’t imagine what it must be like to have to get up and speak about the day you lost your dad to a huge group of people, knowing your words carry weight. To use that platform to ask that people stop leveraging this day to spread hate is both powerful and profoundly kind.

The reason I've gone more left in recent years is that I previously accepted that we simply couldn't afford decent cheap housing, heavily subsidised transport, a universal basic income, etc. Then in 20 years in politics I saw what we actually could afford. And it's a lot. It's just never for you.

Be sure to use Al when making your next, I don't know, meal plan, for example. Definitely do not call your friend who loves to cook and ask her for her favorite recipes or tips or ways to save time making meals, because you will end
up talking for longer than you had hoped, hearing, perhaps, about her father's cancer diagnosis or how lonely she's been or even what she's planted in her spring garden and then lost with the early frost.

Universal medicare was Canadian innovation rooted in care. What if the starting point in innovation, more often, was care for people and communities?
However, what if instead of innovation driven by fear, we instead pursued innovation rooted in care? Care for our neighbours, care for our communities, care for people across the globe, care for our planet itself?

What would it really mean to design our innovation policies and structures around that notion?

What would that type of innovation system look like?

Ultimately, I bet it would create a very different world to than the one we found ourselves in now.

Carney's enthusiastic embrace of a lawless US compares very unfavourably with Jean Chrétien's decision not to follow the US to Iraq or embrace BMD after 9/11. The fear in some quarters (e.g., the CD Howe Institute) was the same then as now: that the US would punish Canada for getting out of line.
