On Instagram, you can *pay* to view peoples’ stories without them seeing you viewed them. Which tells you everything you need to know about the fucked up status of Facebook’s psychological depravity.

do you know how stupid you have to be to get community noted with a link to project gutenberg

Matt Walsh
@MattWalshBlog
Nolan's obsessions with the non-linear storytelling gimmick really hurts this film. It jumps around so much, and spends so little time on any one particular moment or scene, that you never really feel like Odysseus is on an epic journey spanning many years. When he makes it home, you never feel like he's been gone for 20 years. The film does not capture the grandeur and scope of the original epic. That's why it feels rushed and too long simultaneously. The movie comes off like a rough draft. Nolan was searching for the actual story but never quite found it.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Odyssey, the original work by Homer, is told non-linearly.

Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer

These Google Workspace ads (for *paying* customers!) are driving me crazy I don't know why I would need a "virtual receptionist", what "Voice Standard" is, who "my callers" are, and why I would need to "guide them automatically" Is Google Workspace losing its mind? What next: proper ads?

Just saw #theodyssey in 70mm IMAX. Here’s my spoiler free review: EPIC! Not what I expected, brilliant, more moral than moving. A work that’s convinced there is right and wrong. Which in our time is needed. It really may be his best film, even if it’s not my favorite of his.

I think we can take a moment to admire the United States Postal Service's commemorative stamps celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, by illustrator Juan Carlos Pagan. The '1776' in both designs is smart, though where the feathers are elegant that stylised flag is 👌

Two postage stamps with illustrations of the American flag and a quill pen. The left stamp features a stylized flag with red and white stripes and a blue circle with white stars. The right stamp shows a red, white, and blue quill pen on a dark blue background. Both stamps have the text "1776 forever USA" and "Declaration of Independence" printed vertically on the side. In the background, there is a painting of historical figures in a formal setting.

A close-up photo of a white envelope with a red, white, and blue airmail border. A navy blue stamp with a stylised United States flag forming the numbers '1776' is applied. The stamp reads "1776 forever USA" and "celebration of Independence." The envelope is placed on a red, white, and blue striped surface.

Two large banners hang on a stone building with classical columns. The left banner features a stylized eagle in red, white, and blue, with the text "1776 forever USA" and "Declaration of Independence" vertically on the side. The right banner displays abstract red and white stripes forming a ribbon-like shape, with a blue circle containing white stars, also accompanied by "1776 forever USA" and "Declaration of Independence" vertically. The building's facade is ornate, with detailed stonework above the columns.

Look at this absolute unit

A massive wedge-shaped railway snowplough painted deep red sits inside a historic engine shed beside a small blue steam locomotive. The side of the plough is marked ‘N.E.R. Snowplough No.18 Bishop-Auckland,’ with sunlight streaming through tall arched windows onto the stone walls and concrete platform.
