You know those short indie films WeTransfer advertises to you when you're too cheap to pay a subscription? Are they real, do we reckon? Has anyone ever clicked through to watch one and find out?

Hoarding obsolete Apple products is totally normal, yes?
A collection of Apple products on a wooden surface includes an iPhone in a dock displaying app icons, a white iPod with wired earbuds, and a dark translucent mouse, and Apple G4 Cube computer. Boxes show text such as ‘iPhone’, ‘iSight’, ‘Mac OS X’, and a partial ‘iPod’, with Apple logos visible. An open iBook G4 laptop displays an iTunes interface with a song list and an atom graphic, resting on a wooden surface. Behind it, the back of an iPad shows an Apple logo and the word ‘iPad’. An iSight camera on its stand and vintage iPhone are positioned nearby. In the background are product boxes for MacOS X, iPod Socks and iSight camera.

Anyway I had a couple of weeks away from Bluesky, I didn't think I could see much point in being here but the more I thought about it the more I realised I just can't see the point in being alive a lot of the time and since I'm stuck with that for the time being I might as well hang about here too 🥰

Interstellar. I feel bad even saying so because I know that there's people on here who I've a lot of time for and who love it. I've tried more than once and it gets worse with every attempt. I'm sorry.

I'm starting to think that by watching a generation of disaster movies we've all been unwittingly deceived into believing that world leaders will actually try to do something to save the planet when things start rapidly going to shit.

10 years living in Yorkshire, finally made it to Leeds' Corn Exchange yesterday. It was worth the wait.

I can't work out whether or not at this point Waitrose have gone into full-on self parody mode.

Arguably Richard Osman's greatest felony against literature isn't spawning the cosy crime genre - everyone has their own thing and that's fine - but it's that the window displays of bookshops are now about 80% full of them and their offshoots and they all have near-identical looking cover artwork 🤨

I'm sorry, but I'm still struggling to comprehend just how good the 8x zoom on the iPhone 17 Pro is. Judging by previous models zooming in this far should render shots like they're being displayed on Teletext. HOW is it doing this?
An aerial photograph of a marina with several boats docked. The marina is surrounded by a rocky breakwater and there are buildings and roads nearby. The water is a deep blue colour. There is a parking lot with several cars parked in it. An airplane wingtip with a yellow, grey and white design. The yellow section has the word "vueling" written on it in grey letters. Farnborough Air Show this week. Spotted at Waterloo this morning. Totally fine.
A large digital screen displays an image of a futuristic fighter jet with a sleek, angular design, set against a twilight sky with water in the foreground. To the left of the screen, text reads "The World's First AI-Piloted VTOL Fighter Jet" followed by "Farnborough Airshow Hall 3 | Booth 3750" and "Shield AI." Below the screen, there are ticket gates with people passing through. The space appears to be a railway station.

Now, I'm not pretending to be a huge football fan, but I am INTRIGUED by the BBC's weird PlayStation 2 rendering of some of the World Cup matches. Like, it's no doubt technically impressive to do this stuff in near-real time, but... why? 🧐 www.3d-bbc.co.uk
A digital illustration of a football match between Spain and Argentina in the FIFA World Cup. The scoreboard shows a tie of 0-0 with 84 minutes played. Players in white and light blue jerseys are positioned across the field, while players in red jerseys are near the goal. The BBC Sport logo is visible in the top corners. The scene is set on a green football pitch with a clear view of the goal area.

I'm sure that someone posted similar yesterday, but before I can see The Odyssey I need to go back in on the Coen brothers' 'sort of based on' version. Released to mixed reviews maybe, but to me at least it's an absolute delight of a film.

Aw, it's five years already since I went to Glasgow to see them filming Indy 5 and ended up finding a horse's arse in some pretend-1950s New York street, not realising at the time that it would arguably be one of the best bits of that utter mess of a film.

Found my first MP3 player at the weekend - the Sony NW-MS7 from 1999 - up to 12 songs on a Memory Stick, encoded in Sony's proprietary format. Ditched it for the iPod in 2002, but seeing them together made me realise just how fun tech used to look before everything became a rounded rectangle 🙃

I think we can take a moment to admire the United States Postal Service's commemorative stamps celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, by illustrator Juan Carlos Pagan. The '1776' in both designs is smart, though where the feathers are elegant that stylised flag is 👌

The right stamp shows a red, white, and blue quill pen on a dark blue background. Both stamps have the text "1776 forever USA" and "Declaration of Independence" printed vertically on the side. It's 10 years this week since I was offered a design job with Virgin Trains. You'd never guess but it was the dream job, and still brings incredible challenges and experiences. Most of all, it taught me that when people don't want you to succeed it’s all the motivation you need to prove them wrong 👌

Returning to Bristol is always difficult now after having made so many happy memories here. I did at least manage to wipe away the tears for long enough this morning to admire Temple Meads' fancy restored roof however, which I'm glad about because it's spectacular. Worth what felt like a long wait.

Yes it's Paul McCartney's birthday and yes We All Stand Together is delightful and you can all stop getting sneery about it, but if you're not watching the full 14-minute version (featuring the voices of June Whitfield and Windsor Davies no less) then quite honestly you're doing it wrong.
