There is a special place in hell for people who work for a presidential administration who decide to air out dirty laundry for a tell-all book, but who won't stand behind it and put their names on the record. Disgusting.

The threat of ICE has tons of people on high alert, the result is claims of ICE seen without firm or specific info people can actually use — & sometimes, no ICE at all. It’s never “ICE spotted in Queens,” but “4 SUVs labeled DHS seen parked on 57th & 59th in Maspeth at 2:34pm.” Be specific!

Spread Information not panic
When reporting or signal boosting potential threats: provide as much information as possible!
S.A.L.U.T.E.
Size/Strength
"5 to 6 Armed Agitators"
Actions/Activity
"Harassing random people on the move"
Location & Direction
"Manhattan, East of Central Park, E 97th St"
Uniform/Clothes
"Dark Jackets, ballcaps"
Time & Date of Observation
"8:32 PM June01"
Equipment & Weapons
"They have Body Armor and Pepper spray"
Not a useful tweet: "proudboys spotted"
"Where? When? What are they doing?
How Many? What are they carrying?"
Use your Judgement!

The United States is so broken and damaged, it has elected a CRIMINAL as its next president. What a horrible county.

Every time I read a retrospective on COVID I remember the early days, when people published commentaries about the 1918 flu pandemic, how it was SO WEIRD that that whole thing just got memory-holed, how did that happen so many people died? Covid now has >20 million. www.pbs.org/newshour/hea...

5 years after it appeared, things we know and still don't know about COVID

Five years after the virus that causes COVID emerged in China it still holds some mysteries.

if you made art this year, you did well. a sketch, even if it was scrapped ; a poem, even if it was deleted — mattered. you put thought to paper, you engaged with the creative alchemy of turning feeling to something tangible. doesn't matter if you weren't productive "enough." or good "enough."

People ask me what my hobbies are. One of them is definitely Books. Not just reading books and getting lost in them but the smell of books, going to (used)bookstores and libraries. Who’s with me? #BookSky 💙📚 #Books #BookThrifting

The books we love when we're young are the ones that change our lives forever. They're the ones that make us readers, and they shape us at the deepest levels. So here's a huge & heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone out there who's helping kids find books that they love! #literacy

I’ve been shouting about this for years. Murders started going up in the *spring* of 2020, well before George Floyd was killed. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

washingtonpost.com

Column | Why did murders surge in 2020? Research says economics, not activism.

New analysis from Brookings shows that the increase began not with the death of George Floyd but the erosion of employment.

My random tip of the day is: Fail. Make some dog shit art, make something you think you like and then hate, despise your own work. See the flaws in your previous makings and then approach your new work with the mindset of making those failings better. Make shitty art and then make wonderful art

“Is it okay for a social media platform to be an echo chamber” back in the day we had websites and websites were generally focused on a single topic and if you were into that topic you would visit that website and if you weren’t into that topic you just didn’t go on that website and it was fine

I like to imagine that there are spectral libraries full of all the unwritten books of the ages. Archives of all the unsent letters of love or apology. I know there some magicians who claim to walk the stacks of such places in their dreams. How I envy them their reading. - #CLNolan
