I believe this is a golden age of children's literature. There are books being published today that will shape the minds of generations; life-changing books whose readers will change the world. There really is a book for EVERYONE now - if we can just help every reader find those books!

Trump, stops the dismantling of the Institute of Museum and Library Services.The court ruled that all actions taken by the Administration to dismantle IMLS are nullified. As a children’s bookseller I spent quite some time every week explaining two things - why visual literacy is important and why comic books are ‘real’ books. And why certain books are better read when a child is older and more able to understand the emotional complexity on the page.

My favourite recent story from the bookshop - I told a comic loving boy that he could read comic books all his life. ‘I still read them,’ I told him. His mum said I was right, that his auntie was a big comic book fan. The grin on his face when he realised it was true! It made my year.
