Crypto is cooked. It's always been more hype than utility. They'll never recapture that 2021 peak because actual revolutionary tech is here. Not to mention what Quantum will do to them.

As an executive should I spend 250k on a new employee or raise our AI budget. The ROI maxing answer at all but a handful of firms is to spend on AI. Right now the saving grace for labor is insufficient understanding of how to get ROI from AI but once that dam breaks....

but that is not reason to dismiss the entire field of AI safety. you do have to actually engage with the arguments. "these people are weird freaks," even if true, is not evidence that everyone who holds similar views (many of whom are decidedly not weird freaks!) is wrong.

How to understand Anthropic. 1. They are true believers in existential risk, AI safety, regulation, pause, etc. 2. They see OpenAI as a menace--so long as theres an arms race A must win or terrible things happen. They will not unilaterally disarm.

If we let them build data centers we'll end up like Loudoun county where they get 40% of tax revenue from DCs and have shiny new community centers, parks, libraries, schools popping up left and right.

Random inference providers hosting Chinese models is a thing in 2026 but enterprise commodity tier AI will be dominated by Microsoft, Amazon, Google. You just buy it bundled with your cloud or productivity suite.

Frontier lab moats with enterprise buyers are going to prove stronger than many expect. Alignment, data safeguards, model-harness fit, worker preference, vendor lock in, etc.

Virtually every knowledge worker would have productivity enhanced by using an agent just for organizing todos, meeting transcripts, documentation, slide decks and spreadsheets.

The way Gen Alphas all suck at handwriting because they interact with screens far more than paper, that's what about to happen to typing once wispr flow caliber dictation gets commodities with on device local models.

AI is incredibly powerful, accelerating rapidly and most users have only scraped the surface of what it can already do. Evidence is just abundant, but people have made it part of their identity to be in denial, building entire worldviews on disastrously incorrect premises.

Democrats have been terrified of norm violations for years. Guess what? The norms are gone. They don't exist anymore. This administration has nuked them from orbit. You either throw them in prison for doing that, or we no longer have a meaningful justice system in America.

Four headlines in which Marjorite Taylor Greene, Tucker Carolson, Piers Morgan, and Alex Jones condemn Trump for his genocidal threats to Iran.

Millions of American voters wanted to be villains. They came to believe it’s the key to success, while goodness is weak, woke, loser stuff, done only to signal. Offered the option of unvarnished villainy, they enthusiastically took it. Seeing others suffer more made them feel big. And here we are.

I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them

Honestly boycotting the World Cup would be the most effective and probably the least disruptive of all of the options available to Europe. I’m not sure how you can send teams and fans to contribute to a spectacle designed entirely to celebrate a guy trying to invade your territory.

The labor share of GDP is lower today than it has been at any time since records began being kept in 1947. The share of the nation’s income going to workers has fallen 16 points in that 78-year stretch. The share going to capital has risen by the same amount. prospect.org/2026/01/19/a...

(3) Pollsters like to test messages with captured audiences who are being paid to pay attention. That isn’t reality. It’s pretend. No such circumstances exist outside of their experimental settings. The fight over attention is the central fulcrum point of contemporary politics.

The correct response to Republicans widely depicting the coming protests as terrorism is to go out and protest. Each person should get 10 more people to do so. If Republicans are going to hint at violent state responses to legitimate protest, the only answer is bigger numbers.
