Scarlet Hollow wears the trappings of a visual novel but in practice it is so complex and you are given so much agency it winds up feeling more like an in depth RPG. Upon completing what's out of the game so far I literally immediately made a new character with different traits.

I know it's gauche to quote tolkien but genuinely the most interesting thing in his letters to me is this one from 1963 wherein he laid out in very plain terms what I think is THE fundamental thing that makes so much art have a life in your head beyond what you see on a page or play in a game

I am doubtful myself about the undertaking. Part of the attraction of the L.R. is, I think, due to the glimpses of a large history in the background: an attraction like that of viewing far off an unvisited island, or seeing the towers of a distant city gleaming in a sunlit mist. To go there is to destroy the magic, unless new unattainable vistas are again revealed.

A Little Owl is bundled in a baby blue towel on a table with an expression of malcontent. His eyes are squinted and slightly crossed, and match his waxy yellow beak in colour. He appears chinless, recessing his head into his body; eyes at the same level as his shoulders and squashed as though someone had tried resizing him in a Word document and forgot to lock the aspect ratio.

Today is my birthday and as is tradition I would love if you could share my art 😳

Mainly with a blue color palette and a bright red contrasting on teh bottom aprt of the illustration, Isuelt stands in the middle ready to bite off one of the threads caught on her hands

Final color options renders of my concept from the Castillian mythological creature the ORICUERNO, with deer hooves, a horns, wings on the legst and a lion tail. With incredible unusual characteristics, the oricuerno could transform water into a cure all poisons elixir and could also turn women into men.
