Marvel's Wolverine A solo Wolverine game was always gonna be a weird venture, not Insomniac's best. It's definitely got its issues, but more than anything I feel like the game got fed to the culture war vultures looking to farm outrage over pointless trite when the real problems got overlooked.

I feel like im one of the 5 people ive seen in my circles that doesnt necessarily *mind* the direction of the new CV, and even I thought the demo for it was rather dull. Its kind weird feeling like Dead Cells itself felt more like a CV game than this does, minus the roguelike bits.

This game can be a bit dull, but it has a stellar supporting cast and shares a lot of DNA with 428. The final act gets SO absurd (affectionate) that im left with a good impression even if I think a lot of minor parts could have been a lot better and the TL needed a second or third editing pass.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Capcom combines thrilling boss fights with thoroughly mediocre open world questing in a game that reminds me of the same issues I had with Final Fantasy 16, though at least this game's combat IS good enough to push through the tedium. I expected worse, but wanted better.

The video game industry has always been volatile (I published Press Reset in 2021!) but the skeleton key to understanding the current state of things is this: Big games now cost 10x to make what they did 15 years ago but most do not generate even close to 10x the revenue. Simple as that

At the point in Onimusha where im just skipping every non-main story cutscene cause nothing happens at allllll The pacing of the game really is the weakest point, I have a lot of fun when im in boss fights but im so bored otherwise plowing through what feels like pure padding in between them

Two big takeaways from the replay: 1. Man, Kojumbo always was really weird about women huh. It was just harder to notice back since that's just how video game writing *was*. 2. For better and worse, AAA video game formulas have been standardized to a point that this game would never be made today.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots First replay since before the 2010's. Still a baffling game that sticks out like a sore thumb, even if its a bit endearing in how batshit it is. What little gameplay *is* there is better than I remember, at least. Act 4/5 make the whole thing worth it.

Two major complaints about Onimusha so far: a. I dont think the game uses its open city map very well which leads to a lot of re-trekking down the same alleys a lot and b. Story Progression simply doesnt exist, im just beating whatever enemies pop up in front of me and things happen where I go "ok"

Life is Strange: Double Exposure This is prob the 2nd best game in the series so far, which isn't saying a lot because I think the three below it are really bad for different reasons. But an interesting enough setup and brisk pacing kept me from being bored at least, even if the payoff wasn't great.
