They have no gods. They work magic, and think they are gods themselves. But they are not. And when they die, they become dust and bone, and their ghosts whine on the wind a little while till the wind blows them away. They do not have immortal souls.

"Look at the four White-tailed Deer frolicking in the ocean" are words not often uttered, I'll wager. But I uttered them on this particular morning. :) St. Andrews, #NewBrunswick, Canada June 2026 📷 #mammals #deer #marinelife #nature #wildlife #photography #Nikon #Z9 #Nikkor800pf
Four light brown deer are frolicking in a shallow pool of water amongst the seaweed-covered rocks of the intertidal zone at low tide. More seaweed-covered rocks are in the foreground and the calm ocean water is behind the deer.

the lessons we need to take are clear. Dolly said "find out who you are and do it on purpose", and Tim Curry's line is "don't dream it, be it" they would both be disappointed if we wrote that off as corny. so what? it's necessary. we have everything to lose if we are dishonest to ourselves.

'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)
An embroidery hoop containing a sewn landscape from above. It shows a forest on the right, a line of fire and charred ground with smoke on the left. The smoke is felted wool.

Rediscovered this photo from a forest stroll back in January and forgot to share it! For the fungi fans. 🍄✨ #photography #Ireland #Mycology #Fungi #NaturePhotography
A low-angle vertical photograph looking up a moss-covered tree trunk adorned with a striking, staircase-like growth of warm, terracotta-orange bracket fungi. The fungi fan outwards in layered tiers along the dark bark, leading the eye upwards towards the forest canopy. In the background, slender, bare winter trees blur softly beneath a pale, cool-toned sky, creating an atmospheric, tranquil woodland feel.

stains the hollow
shells of blossoms

A vibrant, eye-level woodland shot framed by two large, dark tree stumps covered in tiered, light-brown bracket fungi and patches of green moss. In the centre, a Pieris shrub erupts in brilliant flame-red leaves, transitioning to green further down. The foreground is lush with bright green ferns and low-lying foliage. Sunlight filters through a canopy of bare and budding branches in the background under a clear blue sky, creating a bright, hopeful, and magical forest atmosphere.
