What exactly is “climate action” that ordinary people can take when the fucking billionaires and politicians are literally happy to burn the whole planet down for money and power? (Sorry, feeling very down about all this).

Badenoch claims £2,700 a month from the taxpayer to rent a grade II-listed farmhouse with six bedrooms. The property sits within the highest council tax bracket, costing over £4,000 in council tax a year, which the Essex MP also claims on expenses. "Best welfare" is being an MP.

I also hate it when museums do that (apart from Pitt Rivers, where it makes sense). Though I must admit, my latest book starts in the present, goes back to Ancuent Egypt, then to 18th century India, before filling in the middle!

So exciting! It’s always momentous to find something that someone made thousands of years ago. If you go to your local museum with it, a curator may be able to catalogue it and give you more information about the area.

The British social attitudes survey has been recording ~50% non-religious for years. They start by asking - are you religious? Rather than the leading census Q - what religion are you? Which has people ticking a box even if not believers.

I strongly believe schools should bring children together rather than try to impose one religious identity on them. If you agree - please add your name and call on the Education Secretary to introduce inclusive assemblies for all, and to keep dangerous Christian Nationalism OUT of our schools.

'By the time I finished it, I knew I'd left that faith behind.' Writing in the Guardian, our Vice President Alice Roberts on the book that ended her faith – Richard Dawkins' The Blind Watchmaker – and on becoming a humanist long before she knew the word for it. @profaliceroberts.bsky.social
When i picked up Dawkins' The Blind Watchmaker. I was already beginning to seriously doubt the Anglican faith i'd been brought up in. By the time i finished it, I knew I'd left that faith behinds. biological diversity could be entirely explained through natural processes; there was no need - and no evidence of - a divine creator. I became a humanist although I didn't know the word for it back then.

So weird. These twerps need to do some biology. I think the idea that the brain stops inside the skull is behind some of this. It goes right out to your fingertips. And inside to your guts. You can’t have a brain without a body. It doesn’t make sense. Whatever AI is, it’s just a model.
