Reached a level of desperation with the job search, where I signed up with a family tree website to see if there were any countries I might qualify for citizenship, since no one wants to hire any animators from the US.

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

Both Dolly Parton and Tim Curry had such a genuine enthusiasm for performing that it was impossible not to love them for it, there were things more highly and lowly regarded in their bodies of work but both of them threw themselves into everything because it was pure joy for them and that rules

This is a bipartisan issue so if you have an R rep you can actually make them care by calling/writing Designated Wilderness areas are so rare, only congress can make them, & they're the most pristine areas we have- set aside specifically because of their uniqueness. This is fucking monstrous:

Rewatching Princess and the Frog, and once again mourning Disney tossing away generations of institutional knowledge with the dismantling of their 2D department at the height of their technical prowess. Cant help but see the similarities with how the games industry is being destroyed right now

This information doesn't surprise me, because as someone who has been in an industry with lots of layoffs in the last few years, I have noticed it has hit certain groups of people much harder than others. And this is largely by design.

We're so used to seeing these sorts of sky-high numbers relating to executive compensation that it's easy to become numbed to the reality of what the numbers actually mean. This chart (not the one shown in the preview) drills home the true absurdity of it all. Look upon it and despair.

The main way in which AI has negatively impacted games industry jobs is not through actual automation of those jobs or even untrue claims about automation. It's by making capital unavailable because it's tied up in AI investments while also destroying the consumer base for video game hardware.

The one good thing about being out of work, is having time to work on personal work. I decided to make a dialogue shot, since it's been an age since my last one, after being in game mode for the last decade Anyways, have a bear 🐻🎣

There's this underlying assumption behind every bad decision being made in the game industry these days that people will just suck it up and accept those decisions. Nah man, people are just going to stop playing games. People are not going to have access, and games are not a necessity of life

If the entire industry swings this way (which seems likely), this ends the public library's ability to lend new games to players who can't afford them. Sony loses that chunk of their demographic forever, and Playstation games are the most popular console games in my library system.

I'll reserve full judgement until I see more, but I'm so tired of remake = realistic. Zelda as a franchise is suppose to experiment and push art style conventions. But it feels like a lot (not all!) Nintendo games have been doing muddy uninspired realistic textures vs a strong art direction lately
