Did you just pick up a bunch of more generic hats somewhere so you have them on hand to embroider wherever, or is it more just embroidering a hat whenever you happen to come across one that'd be a good canvas?

Reached a level of desperation with the job search, where I signed up with a family tree website to see if there were any countries I might qualify for citizenship, since no one wants to hire any animators from the US.

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

It feels like we just keep losing so much in all the animation industries, so many different forms of artistry, so much institutional knowledge. I'm just sad watching so much of the thing that I fell in love with slip away. I just want us to all to be able to live and make all the things

Both Dolly Parton and Tim Curry had such a genuine enthusiasm for performing that it was impossible not to love them for it, there were things more highly and lowly regarded in their bodies of work but both of them threw themselves into everything because it was pure joy for them and that rules

This is a bipartisan issue so if you have an R rep you can actually make them care by calling/writing Designated Wilderness areas are so rare, only congress can make them, & they're the most pristine areas we have- set aside specifically because of their uniqueness. This is fucking monstrous:

Though the working condition part is admittedly more of the same problem that every industry is having atm. Still part of the narrative though

Anyways, it's been 15 years since that bad decision and we still haven't recovered from it. The wrong has been admitted, but regaining that institution is hard-going. Today's big 2D films (and 3D to an extent) are not made within a cohesive production, but dispersed, with worse working conditions

Rewatching Princess and the Frog, and once again mourning Disney tossing away generations of institutional knowledge with the dismantling of their 2D department at the height of their technical prowess. Cant help but see the similarities with how the games industry is being destroyed right now

This information doesn't surprise me, because as someone who has been in an industry with lots of layoffs in the last few years, I have noticed it has hit certain groups of people much harder than others. And this is largely by design.

We're so used to seeing these sorts of sky-high numbers relating to executive compensation that it's easy to become numbed to the reality of what the numbers actually mean. This chart (not the one shown in the preview) drills home the true absurdity of it all. Look upon it and despair.
