Her (Jonze): Finally having caught up with this in 2026, this is interesting in the ways in which it both has and hasn't aged well. As timely as it is, it's also very much a 2013 view of AI. Trouble is... that's kind of the barrier that kept me from fully connecting to the central romance.

Wasn't having the best day so Seehorn's Emmy win has given me the pick-me-up I needed. I'm glad Gilligan now has an Emmy for writing but his direction is more what stood out to me about the first episode of Pluribus.

I noticed a Letterboxd account that seemed to have the exact same opinions as someone I follow, and when I brought it to the latter's attention, he responded by deleting my comment without explanation. The other account also just deleted all of its lists (or set them to private). Weird.

Having been on Letterboxd for so many years it's been genuinely fascinating watching it grow from a small, niche platform to a busy social network that celebrities know about. I've been around long enough to remember when it was actually fairly easy to get likes on reviews as a new member.

People still talking to a narcissistic acquaintance I cut ties with baffle me. He is so curt and peremptory in his manner toward others it's exasperating. Classic example of a guy who expects others to come onto his terms, refuses to concede an inch, and is incapable of code-switching.

my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. The last two episodes of Ted Lasso S4 have been a bit of a rebound for the show. Still not great or anything, but each episode feels more... concise and focused. Don't think it has that aimless quality that marred much of S3.

My take on the end of The Invite: they've accepted that they're going to break up, and will now be carrying on more amicably, while acknowledging the real love they once shared. Like the ending of Marriage Story, now that I think about it.
