Also, unless you’re a business/media reporter, or someone who trades/owns stocks, the “Skydance” name is simply not something most folks need to think about moving forward. NBC, Universal and Peacock all live within Comcast, but nobody at Comcast expects you to ask, “What’s on Comcast tonight?”

Folks, the merger of Warner Bros. and Paramount is awful for many reasons, but putting both brands (and CBS) under the generic Skydance is a lot better than mashing names together or some nonsense new name. A reminder: This is how the storied Columbia Pictures existed for most of the 80s…

Early numbers for #YachtRock night on #DWTS + RJ DECKER E3 look stellar. DWTS notched 7.1M in panel-only Nielsen nationals, which is the best non-finale panel number for the show since 2020, per ABC. And RJ went up to 3.2M viewers, up 20% vs. its avg for first two weeks of S2 Finals tomorrow.

Update: The NYT and WaPo both are leading their home pages tonight with stories about this hearing, with the Times centering Schmitt’s shenanigans. But stunningly, Schmitt’s stunt was not mentioned at all on any of the three network newscasts. CBS and NBC didn’t cover the hearing at all.

Update: With the inclusion of Big Data adjustments, viewership of Sunday's VMAs on CBS turned out to be even higher, per Nielsen. Eye drew 8.175M (vs the 7.6M in fast nationals) while the MTV premiere notched another 641K for a total of 8.8M. Throw in MTV encore + P+ next-day, it's over 9M.

Here’s how little Paramount cares about the MTV cable channel: Because the NFL game has delayed the start of the “MTV” VMAs, MTV viewers have been seeing b-roll and a crawl telling them to stay tuned for the awards. There’s not even a proper pre-show that can be extended.

An update, via ABC PR: Not only did last week's special bonus edition of #DWTS (6.44M/1.32 A18-49) beat all network competition, it also outdrew Wednesday's biggest streaming show-- Amazon's REACHER, which notched 4.79 million viewers and a 1.08 rating A18-49 rating on Wednesday, per Nielsen.
