Starting to pull together my favorite #photos of the year. I took some good ones this year, just not at PDX Squared (ha). Looking through them I’m struck most by how much I really like the ones I took on that rented #Fujifilm #GFX100RF. Wish that camera wasn’t so expensive.
This image captures a serene beach scene at sunset. The sky transitions from a soft orange near the horizon to a pale blue above, with scattered, pink-tinged clouds. Dark, silhouetted mountains line the coast in the distance, meeting the ocean where gentle waves are rolling onto the sandy shore. The beach itself is dark and reflective in the fading light.

This morning I had a good laugh thinking about how annoying it would be for vampires to deal with human dentists. “Are you flossing daily?” “I mean some of my meal’s hair got stuck in my fangs, so yes.” And what if a vampire got a cavity on their fang? Has anyone written that? I might do that.

The second #book in my #vampire #detective series just dropped! I'm hoping it finds even more #booksky #readers than the first entry. - Vampire Detectives Agency: Double Date mixes mystery and romance together with a cast of loveable, snarky, sometimes drunk, often horny, paranormal idiots.
This image displays both a digital tablet and a physical paperback book featuring the cover of "Vampire Detective Agency: Double Date" by Ross Weisfish. The cover art has a dark, moody aesthetic with a neon-lit sign reading "DOUBLE DATE" below the main title, set against a backdrop of a building fire escape at night. The tagline at the top reads, "THREE LOVERS. TWO BEDS. ONE BOMB."This image is a book review for "Vampire Detective Agency: Double Date" by user amyblock93. The review praises the book as a great follow-up to the first installment, calling it a "perfect autumn read" and a "paranormal mystery with a sprinkle of romance." It also includes a mini synopsis mentioning the return of characters Veronica and Larry for a new case filled with twists, turns, and a touch of spice. The graphic is decorated with spooky elements like bats, coffins, vampire fangs, and blood drips. This is a promotional graphic for the book "Vampire Detective Agency: Double Date" by Ross Weisfish. The graphic features both a digital tablet and a paperback copy of the book against a black background with a red, blood-splattered top border.

The text highlights the book's genres as Paranormal, Mystery, and Romance. It includes several teasers about the story, such as "What happens after the happy ever after?", "Spice inside... Blood too, but they are vampires after all," and "Multiple POVs, multiple couples, and just a little murder mystery." It also notes that this is the second book in a series of noir-inspired vampire detective novels.

At the bottom, a brief synopsis reads: "A cursed human and a vampire fell in love on Halloween. That was the easy part of the story. Figuring out their relationship while a killer stalks the streets of NYC on Christmas Eve? That's going to require a miracle."

Some street style snaps of gamers at the #Portland @retrogamingexpo.bsky.social this weekend. Starting to think I may make a zine with all my “people playing videogames” #photos at some point in the future.
This black and white photo captures a young boy and an older man playing side-by-side on classic pinball machines. The boy on the left is focused on a Pokémon-themed machine, while the man on the right is playing a Star Wars "Fall of the Empire" game. Both are viewed from behind, highlighting a shared moment of concentration and entertainment across generations. This image shows three people sitting on a vintage floral-patterned couch, playing video games on classic CRT televisions. The room has a retro aesthetic with wood-paneled TVs, older gaming consoles, and warm lighting from lamps in the background. This black and white photo captures a man playing a light gun arcade game, likely Time Crisis. He is wearing glasses, a black t-shirt, and a backpack, and is focused on the screen while holding the game's gun controller. Other arcade cabinets and people can be seen in the background. This image shows a person with long brown hair playing a classic Atari Centipede arcade game. The brightly lit marquee and side art feature colorful graphics of a centipede and mushrooms, while the screen displays the iconic gameplay.

Never been a more moral time to be buying indie games instead of the Big Boys. It's like getting your coffee from the locally owned cafe on the high street instead of a massive bucket of watered down piss slurry from EvilCoffeeCorp that burns down the rainforest. Buy indie, they have your back.

Yeah the balance is not good. So many things flying at you from off screen + guys shooting you. Hit the accessibility menu and just give yourself a health boost + damage buff. I landed on 20% to both and the game feels a lot better.

Not quite peak fall yet at the Japanese Gardens here in #Portland. But that made for a quiet morning and few challenges when setting up the tripod. #photography
This image features a serene Japanese garden centered around a tranquil pond. A traditional stone lantern sits on a mossy rock near the water's edge, beneath the arching branches of a vibrant green maple tree. Several koi fish can be seen swimming in the dark, reflective water. In the background, a small waterfall cascades over moss-covered rocks, surrounded by lush ferns and dense forest greenery.

Yeah, it felt like a show where the story was trying to set up situations where the character would learn and grow… but the show runner was unwilling to ever let House change. Made for a weird last few seasons and ending.

Casual gamers who want to play GTA6, haven’t been paying attention to RAM apocalypse, and have money to burn… I wouldn’t imagine very many people. But someone at GameStop thinks there will be. More interesting thing to me is how quickly this price changes (either up or down).

The blue sky is barely visible through the leaves of this tree - vivid greens and orange and yellow shows instead in the sky, bisected by the branches of the tree

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

Hey #booksky, we’re 11 days away from the return of my dysfunctional #vampire #detectives. Inspired by the gothic night time gumshoes of Forever Knight, Moonlight, and Angel. But a #reader devastatingly described them as, “Interview with the Vampire meets Brooklyn 99.” 😅 rossweisfish.com/firstbite

My book is best described as X-Files influenced (female detective in an un-cozy thriller with mystery), but in this third and final entry of the trilogy it’s tipping towards a full urban fantasy. Which has been a challenge. #weeknightwriters #firstdraftfall

A supernatural thriller. Its the third book in a trilogy, and the supernatural elements that have been subtle in the first two books are being thrown wide open in the final book. Which has been a challenge. How do I add more weirdness without the vibe getting lost? #firstdraftfall #weeknightwriters

To me all the changes/balancing stuff coming so hot and heavy after release speaks to a studio that needs a much better play tester setup. Clearly they got tunnel vision and couldn’t see the issues internally.

The month of September is drawing to a close, so it’s time for my monthly #blog post. Lots of pictures to share, a reminder to pre-order my upcoming #vampire #romance #mystery #thriller book, and a few recommendations on what to watch & read. rossweisfish.com/2026/09/29/w...
This image shows a reflection in a window of a person taking a photograph with a camera. The person is wearing a red and black plaid shirt. In the background, through the glass and a metal mesh screen, another person wearing a green jacket and a blue cap can be seen, also appearing to take a photo. The scene seems to be outdoors, possibly on a bridge or near a modern structure, with trees and buildings visible in the distance.

* Sorry, this was poorly worded. S/b more like: “Why are vampires always portrayed as cool? Being old doesn’t automatically make someone cool.” Trying to poke fun at how vampires always seem chic and hip, but in reality… they’d be complaining about how salad dressing tasted better in 1807.

Update from this #indieauthor: This is what it looks like to build a #mystery / #romance series from scratch. First book had almost no pre-orders. The 2nd book is doing good, and I’m even seeing pre-orders on the third book that‘s not coming out till next fall!
This image is a table displaying the net pre-order units for three titles in the "Vampire Detective Agency" book series.

"Vampire Detective Agency: Three Hairy Suitors" has 4 net pre-order units.
"Vampire Detective Agency: Double Date" has 17 net pre-order units.
"Vampire Detective Agency: First Bite" has 2 net pre-order units.
