Why are LLM Coders writing changes that are over 1000 lines? Don't they know how much you can express in 1000 lines in a high level language? Are they stupid?

I consider myself left-of-center but I think a lot of people on the left ignore very real harms caused by Communist policy right here at home. For instance, the business I was about to open, “Cyclospora Salad,” has essentially been murdered in the crib by this administration giving it away for free

My theory about LLMs is that Good Creative Ideas tend to actually piss people off or frighten them. So a big part of being e.g. a good computer programmer is being able to pitch your ideas, which may not align with people's instincts about what you should have done

Doing software in 2026 is insane because if you want a coworker to help you, you must first defeat the Lying Machine by asking it to dispense three Lies and providing a clear and concise explanation of why each one is Wrong.

So the "OOP is stupid and dynamic languages rule so we'll just have modules with structs and functions" movement....which was the unofficial orthodoxy for like ten years.... It sucks and it definitely is reflective of a Skill Issue when you can't make OOP work for you and be type-checkable

If LLMs fail to take our jobs, that's arguably a larger crisis than if they succeed. What does it mean for the broader economy, if we just evaporated like a trillion dollars

What's sad about LLMs is they can harmonize well with Old Fashioned AI methods but nobody wants to admit that the problem will require any degree of engineering

reading scholars *positively defend citing AI hallucinations* as a child of the postmodernist "nihilism" wars it is so bitter yet darkly logical to me that the real telos was untethered signification and zero responsibility normalized by pure market commodification and abetted by austerity. more TK

I wish I could go back in time and tell my past self not to let anyone know that I'm remotely skeptical of LLM coding. I genuinely think there's a big segment of the workforce who will basically reject all criticism, as long as they can convince themselves that the person is biased

Cloud LLM providers are a bit like cyber cafes. Back in 1999, hardware and games were evolving together. It was expensive to buy a PC because you knew it was likely to be too slow within a couple of years. So you went to a third party who had economies of scale.

One very strange thing I've noticed as a software developer is, every team has that one AI evangelist, who's trying to be very visible about applying LLMs And this guy is almost always the one asking the worst questions about your work.

Why am I not able to specify a collection of type signatures (and unit tests), and have the AI fill out my program for me? This would solve a lot of the pain points that people describe with "vibe coding". Because you would have a lot of mechanical correctness checks, "for free"
