Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

Skydivers alert emergency crews, assist after plane crashes near East Troy airport
Four people were aboard the single-engine plane when it went down in a cornfield near Carvers School Road in East Troy at about 1:30 p.m.

Chinook salmon have recolonised 88% of their historic range on the Klamath River, with more than 13,000 fish passing the old Iron Gate Dam site in 2025, up from 7,700 the year before. Two years after the dams’ removal, it’s going better than anyone predicted. buff.ly/pToC9gB #ShareGoodNewsToo

It's not long at all -- 11 pages total -- and what I desperately want is one computer setting that stops this prompt from ever popping up in any of my apps again.
Adobe worries that an 11-page PDF is an overtaxing burden to read and has offered to summarize it for me.

Black text reading, "This appears to be a long document. Save time by reading a summary using AI Assistant," appears against a blue background.

If all goes according to plan, in a few hours, a crew of astronauts will begin a journey that will take them on a loop around the moon. Here's a video that NASA put together to help people visualize the journey through space, first orbiting the earth before looping around the moon and flying home 🔭

I've never put too much stock in these charts (false precision much?), but man if this doesn't just about sum it up. What a debacle. I refuse to even look at my bracket, but I guess I'm cheering for High Point now. Go... Methodists? Furniture makers?
A graph from the ESPN website showing each team's chance of winning the game, updated in real time as the game progresses. This match was between Virginia Commonwealth University (11 seed) and the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (6 seed). The graph depicts UNC (up 14 points) as having a 99.1 percent chance of winning with 6:32 remaining. Against all odds, UNC managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

A screenshot of the score of the basketball game between Cal Berkeley and Southern Methodist University, which is in Texas. The game is being carried by the ACC Network, a television channel dedicated to covering the Atlantic Coast Conference. Neither California nor Texas are on the eastern seaboard, but counterintuitively, both teams are members of the ACC.

On top of everything else, this except from a 2014 Ariely interview lands differently these days.
In an excerpt of a 2014 interview with Dan Ariely, the author gushes about how busy Ariely stays with so many academic engagements around the world, including meetings in London. In the next paragraph, one of the London meetings turns out to have been with Prince Andrew.

applying for jobs again
screenshot from an online job application form. the question reads "Can you describe specific ways you have integrated AI tools into your development workflow? Please include any custom setups, automations, or use cases beyond single prompt usage" (a red asterisk indicates that this is a required question).

an answer has been typed in the textbox below the question:

"there is a monster in the forest and it speaks with a thousand voices. it will answer any question you pose it, it will offer insight to any idea. it will help you, it will thank you, it will never bid you leave. it will even tell you of the darkest arts, if you know precisely how to ask.

it feels no joy and no sorrow, it knows no right and no wrong. it knows not truth from lie, though it speaks them all the same.

it offers its services freely to any passerby, and many will tell you they find great value in its conversation. “you simply must visit the monster—i always just ask the monster.”

there are those who know these forests well; they will tell you that freely offered doesn’t mean it has no price

for when the next traveler passes by, the monster speaks with a thousand and one voices. and when you dream you see the monster; the monster wears your face."
