If One Nation's immigration cuts had any chance of lowering rents, Phil Coorey and the entire better-than-you political class would be screaming bloody murder on behalf of property investors and landlords. Instead he acts as if One Nation's in-house economics team (me neither!) has credibility.

This is a good illustration of how so much of AI theft isn't indirect (ie, data sucked into a model to train the chatbot) - it's actually **direct** copying, but *enabled* by GenAI. Of course it is: chatbots absolutely suck at creating good, new stuff.

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

There are early signs that the fire season in Victoria and Tasmania could be bad. This seasonal outlook for rain (left) and temperature (right) over the next three months is not friendly. There is lots of time to pass until fire season down here - and things will shift! - but this is a bad start.
Map showing the chance that rainfall will be low in Victoria and Tasmania. In the southern half of Victoria, there is an above average (1.5x-2x higher than normal) chance that rainfall will be low. In most of Tasmania there is much higher than normal (2x-3.5x higher than normal) change rainfall will be low.Map showing the chance that temperatures will be high in Victoria and Tasmania. one sign that everybody worried about climate change is rabidly meme-ridden and beyond reason is that NO-ONE I speak to will concede that there might be *positive consequences* if the planet gets hotter. why it all gotta be bad? unlivable areas -> habitable? massive insects? idk

The insufficient growth of renewable energy in Australia is was bad before the data centre boom, but that insufficiency persists even as the target finish line moves further and further away as projected demand grows.
New capacity required to meet 2030 targets (gigawatts): wind about 2 GW under construction versus ~18 GW required, solar about 3–4 GW under construction versus ~22 GW required.
