Leftism was gutted in the US with the destruction of the Black Panthers by the FBI. Pretty much all leftism that had any steam left was solely in black spaces, and still does to a point, but it's all very crippled.

This will be a veritable goldmine for archaeologists 1,000 years from now. Folks might see it as crass but this sort of contemporary cultural preservation in murals is something invaluable to the future.

In addition though the "saint" in question is extremely funny because his great victory over the Mongol yoke was to the actual mongols, incidental and actually beneficial. He solved a succession crisis for one of the heirs and actively aided in the mongols reasserting control more or less.

1/ A few weeks after sacred relics of St. Dmitry Donskoy were 'rediscovered' and paraded in occupied regions of Ukraine to boost Russian troops' morale, the Russian Army has reportedly lost them. This comes just over 4 years after the Russian Navy lost the True Cross of Jesus. ⬇️

I had to look this up as I couldn't even believe it. That alone should be the biggest indictment of Russia's toppling fall from power.

Seriously what on earth is the argument Italy gains from a Russian pivot? "Yeah we should support these guys who don't share a border, or an economy, or logistics with us".

This is a bit of a tangent to the Saudi angle, but overall the US is in a suicide pact with Saudi Arabia and can't afford to pull out of the Middle East, as they're one of the few parties keeping the US solvent. It's also why the Iran war is so dumb. Could see the US implode in the next decade.

Of course, the fact that this all mostly artificial means for average people, it still feels a lot like a horrific recession with horrible inflation. But, especially as the S&P is forced to acquire risky AI stocks, it means everyone's 401k will be erased if the market goes boom.

In fact, the Saudi state investment fund was partly what was keeping much of the US economically afloat in the first place, their slush funds being pumped into every conceivable interest this is, in what would otherwise be a horrific recession, if not a 2nd great depression.

I'm not talking about its use, the entire value of the dollar after it was decoupled from gold was being tied to OPEC oil only conducting trade using the dollar. This is what makes the dollar the world currency. If this were to end, the US economy will be in complete shambles.

wigherd.bsky.social @wigherd.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
This would be true except for one teensy problem - the US dollar is inherently tied to oil in a manner which cannot be untangled without collapsing the entire US economy and killing the dollar as the reserve currency of the global market.

You seem to be missing the point that these treaties might be shredded or excused in order to avoid open conflict and committal of troops. A response would have been certain years ago, however European parties are not only compromised by Russian money, but also riddled with euroskepticism now.

This implies the US would actually partake in the defense of Lithuania, which is questionable. Even the state of the EU's military alliance is in question, which is the entire behavior of Putin trying salami tactics on Lithuania. That there would be a rallied defense is an open question.

Though it also depends, bullet trains are also a thing but that requires Japanese-tier investment in your infrastructure. It's criminal really how rail gets treated in a capitalistic format where it needs to be viewed through the lens of a civic right utility.

For the record: The University of California has never asked me for anything like this. But I am seeing this line of questioning arising in a rapidly growing number of American contexts. It has been asked of me, personally, elsewhere. And that is very, very alarming.

To tens of millions, the rate of awful side effect remains the same, but the visibility increases. And instead of being taken for a dire medical issue, it's just being casually used, this is going to make the med DOA. Just imagine the public outcries over necrotic flesh.

Oh, my skin doesn't slough off. It's just that sulfasalazine has a very rare problem where it can putrefy your flesh. This is kind of a running issue with a lot of male birth control is that it has horrible, very rare side effects. This is fine if mere millions are taking it. But if that jumps

Airplanes are also just horrible pollution wise vs rail, which is far cleaner and more efficient pound for pound. Ideally, rail would be the only form of non emergency travel across continents, with flight reserved for intercontinental travel.

Yes. I think the consensus among US elite pundits and senior politicians that the way to protect liberal democracy is *not* to punish elite figures who violate its rules is wrong. A norm starting at least with the Watergate pardon. The opposite is true. You need to enforce the law and Constitution.

This is such a brutal concern in the US. As a diabetic, I'm deeply aware that, had I been born native, I would have been royally fucked simply from the legacy of diet changes inflicted by colonialism. Diabetes amongst Native Americans is exceptionally high, and so is the mortality rate.

Also, one of the biggest concerns in non committed relationships is of course, STD's, thus a condom is always a superior option until you're serious and exclusive anyway. Male contraceptive is more of a niche market imo for men with female partners who can't take contraceptives for varying reasons.

If they are taken by large numbers of people, vs small numbers of folks with relevant diseases where the rare rate is more permissible. Agonizing putrefaction of flesh is more OK if it's a couple hundred people across the world annually or less, vs tens of thousands which would kill the company.

No the issue is the legitimate difficulty on it. I'm actually on medication that, as long as I'm on it, renders me infertile. It's not a wildly sold contraceptive for men because it has rare side effects like your skin sloughing off. The problem is these meds usually have unacceptable consequences

Always remember there's two expressions of rabies as symptoms in animals. The classical foaming at the mouth and hyper-aggression, but also seeming docility and lack of fear of humans. The second can be more dangerous than the first.
