I’m spending extra time with my Mum as she navigates a serious cancer diagnosis. It’s a bit surreal, as I’m also managing a chronic rare cancer with liver & stomach complications. So, I’m not well enough to do serious housework, but I’m excellent company watching PBS TV😆

The roast chicken lesson was entertaining for me, a bit tortuous for Mum(87). I’m a finicky prep person, chopping & mincing. Deeply impressed at her incredible patience, NOT intervening! Chicken soup from remains will be this week … any next must cook meat recipe suggestions?

First, Mum approved, & supervised, delicious roast chicken. Feeling ridiculously proud 😊even being over a certain age. Decades of vegan & vegetarianism, means I missed out, learning all the fabulous family meat/fish dishes. Lucky my Mum is still a keen cook!

Three years ago I started a 5month admission Dec 20th. A reindeer & Santa did my Xmas vitals. This past week, my mother was just admitted, with pancreatic cancer. Shock diagnosis. Between the three adult children, someone is always there. Can I just say… the seats are horrific !!.

Were you able to hear the lights as well? Years ago, in remote Northern Ontario, I used to prep a hot chocolate thermos, set up a lawn chair in the snow, and watch the lights. Every so often, you could hear them - the purple-pink ones made the most magical shimmering sounds.

Snapdragons are my favorite flower to grow. They do however produce seed pods that look like the screaming skulls of the damned.

Acknowledging that the “good guy” can absolutely be a horrific abuser & rapist, and that regular “good girls” can be attacked for no reason - that’s all waaaaay too much for that sort of woman to consider. Unravelling protective thinking can be done, but it takes time, and requires trust.
