I think those Hegseth slurs (fatties, trannies) are a distraction from the very disturbing other announcements, including giving colleges like Liberty honor status for an officer pipeline, using public lands for data centers, replacing psych with religion, and bringing in Elon and Newt to analyze future contracted warfare projects. He thinks we'll fight over identity politics while they reinforce deeper Christian Nationalism for a longer legacy of future leadership.
Stuttering over the slurs was a tell. He practiced.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what you think their motivations are. There are a bunch of politicians who loudly play god botherer that I guarantee have no faith whatsoever, but they’re still playing that game and they’ll play it right to the bitter end, so what’s the difference?

John Roberts' friend and defender is quoted in the piece, saying they shouldn't be shaming Roberts for the wreckage and ruin he's brought to this country because of "civility." The bullies always cry "civility" when the victims push back in the slightest.

I don't know what fixes this. You probably don't restore a healthy two party balance until Republicans who have good civic values run and win. But you definitely don't fix it by demanding compromise with people who would use the chance to prevent self-governance.

You can try to meet the Republican party half way or you can support liberal democracy, but you really can't do both. This wasn't always true, and there are many ordinary people who do not fully appreciate that it currently is. Calls for bipartisanship that obscure this fact worsen this.

Laugh at Eric Schmitt and Co. for Hawkeyes/Hawks, sure. Their screw up is funny and they deserve the mockery. But also, this was the GOP and allied media geared up to defend a coup attempt with lies and jail a prosecutor because he tried to enforce the law against a criminal. How far we've fallen.

U.S. media went berserk when President Biden hurt his foot and wore a supportive shoe. "He has Parkinson's! He's demented!" Trump could crawl before them on his hands and knees with a roadkill animal in his mouth and they'd scramble to find cute ways of saying how unconventional he is.

These ads go in the same category as brazen, easily disproven lies after ICE killings. It’s not about persuasion. It’s a display of power. They could have passed them off as PAC-funded. They added “paid for by the U.S. government” because they want us to know they can break the law with impunity.

Schmitt lied, not a gaffe. Schmitt used lies to try to claim Jack Smith committed perjury then had the nerve to call Mr. Smith a "dirtbag." The Senate should sanction Schmitt, at a minimum and throw in a substantial fine for his deplorable behavior. Thankful @klobuchar.senate.gov caught the lie.

Also Eric Schmitt's dumbass conspiracy theory was based on the idea that the Fulton County DA and the special counsel, both well-known public figures, said "We must discuss our nefarious plan to get Trump. No, a phone call won't do - let's meet in the stands at an NBA game, with cameras everywhere."
