The people who closed the Academy of Natural Sciences Public Museum want all of us to get over it and stop talking about it. But we aren't going to do that. Philly kids deserve a world class natural history museum. It’s our job to get it back for them. Take these actions today.
A slide that says take action to save the academy, post about re-opening the academy's public museum and tag drexel university, and the academy of natural sciences, call mayor parker at 215 686 2181, call Josh Shapiro at 717 787 2500, and contact Drexel President Merlo, 215 895 2100

I bought this book a few years ago when I followed Monte’s [Twitter] account. I’m not on that platform anymore, but glad he is here to share his stories. @montesyrie.bsky.social I gave my copy to my principal for them to read and I never got it back, so I ordered another copy for me to have.

Our work is as authentic as our reflection about our work. For teachers and students. Reflection is the key ingredient. Assessment w/out reflection is just grading. Assessment w/reflection is learning. For teachers and students. Authenticate assessment. REALize learning.

This is something I share with my students: when I was struggling in my youth emotionally, financially, mentally, you name it, it felt impossible to help myself. Yet, as soon as someone else asked for help, I’d jump to the chance, battle ready to do whatever was needed…

In my nearly 15 years in the classroom, I don’t think I’ve ever publicly cried in class before. But when my senior gave me this postcard, well… it brought me to tears. To hear that I helped them to show up to school and their kind words to me… I don’t have words to describe my feelings.
A postcard from a student reads (summary) that Mr. Hastings has been their favorite teacher since they took their first class years ago and that he is kind, funny, and empathetic. This student had issues showing up to school but not anymore - though now that they are graduating, it may be a bit late :)

I love seeing photos like this that show kids riding in protected bike lanes because it makes the important point that the best infrastructure enables *anyone* to ride (or roll, because bikes lanes are also great for wheelchairs and other forms of micro-mobility) regardless of skill or ability.
