The best part of being an artist is that you can just draw whatever dumb idea comes to your head at 1am
A scene parodying the Neon Genesis Evangelion scene of Asuka and her Eva unit getting pierced by the spear of longinus. In this scene, Linguini and Remy from Pixar's Ratatouille take the place of the EVA unit and Asuka respectively. Linguinis eye is pierced by a fork version of the spear and Remy is depicted in an inset where he is grabbing his eye and screaming like the anime. There are anime subtitles at the bottom that say "AHHHHHHHHH!"

NEW: I had the pleasure of profiling Paulina Borsook, whose book Cyberselfish, about the early tech industry, is a great key to understanding why it’s so bad today. For her trouble, Borsook has had a very weird and bad 25 years, something she calls “a curse.” www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

A Tech Prophet Finally Gets Her Second Coming
In 2000, Paulina Borsook published a book foretelling the anti-government sentiments of the tech world. Now that it’s too late, people are ready to listen.

In 1982, I was instantly fond of the tagline on Rudy Rucker's SOFTWARE: "Preserve your software at all costs. The rest is meat." (Cover artist uncredited, sorry)
Cover of the book. A face, the left half being a elderly man with whit hair and pale skin, blending into the right half, a metallic robot with a large mechanical iris in its eye. The greenish background has some flashes of lighter color suggesting the traces of electronic signals. The text includes title, the tagline I quoted, and the author, noting that he is "Author of WHITE LIGHT and SPACETIME DONUTS." Published by Ace SF, novel number 77408.

Two panel comic. Panel 1: there’s a rap battle going on, with a small crowd of onlookers enjoying the show. The guy on the microphone raps, “this fool brought an ancient staff. You got no swag; it makes me laugh!” Panel 2: the rapper holding the other microphone is an evil sorcerer with sunken eyes and a long purple robe. In his other hand, he grasps an ancient magic staff, which instantly shoots a bolt of powerful energy at the first rapper, reducing him to ash. The crowd of people watching the battle react excitedly, in awe of the evil sorcerer’s skills.

MAGA has a playbook to steal the midterms. They’re using it in California.
As Democratic candidates surge, the president and his allies baselessly cry fraud.

Some of the small spot illustrations by Eric Fraser that accompanied the Radio Times magazine’s weekly listings for the BBC’s 1981 radio adaptation of Tolkein’s “The Lord Of The Rings”.
An apparently outclassed Eowyn in mortal combat with Angmar, leader of the Nazgûl. The style is of a bold woodcut. In a forest, the Hobbits Merry and Pippin sit on the “arms” of the Elk Treebeard while discussing matters with him. The destruction of Mount Doom. Lightning bolts fire out from a mountain’s summit while a blast carries away its mid-section. “The Grey Havens” - Three figures on a hill watch a lone ship sail out to sea. The trip ahead is shown to be sunny, leaving behind the rainy skies over the land being left behind.

Denying his Super Bowl success is a way to try to assert Trump's cultural control.

My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.
A 2 panel sketch disgram of a 1 meter tall pod. in the second panel, an oval section pops off and a demonic little face with short tentacles flies out, crudely drawn.
