Okay so setting aside 18,000 problems, you've now in the best case scenario set up a shitty and expensive set of Rube Goldberg machines to handle parts of your daily life. Congrats?

Why is everyone on here talking about some country song? I kind of want to create a bluesky client that allows me to tag a bunch of posts together and find the common denominator of posts those accounts have liked in the past 6 hours that lead to this hysteria.

How about those Guardians, winning 9 of the last 10 games to take the AL Central for the 7th time out of the last 11 years. Gotta be the best franchise in modern history that doesn't actually spend any money?
Guardians schedule for September. 16 wins, 8 losses

This is why I say that *everyone* is a transplant. Unless you're still living in your parent's home, you're a transplant. You're an adult who wants to be housed separately from where you were born which is a very normal thing to want.

This is a golf swing. He shifts his weight to his front foot which is what you do in golf, but makes you look like a toddler when swinging a bat. All your power comes from your rear leg. There are 100 other things wrong but mostly it's just being a rich asshole who took too many golf lessons

It’s a bit of the “boy who cried wolf” situation since I’ve been saying I’d do this for over a year and a half. But it’s done, and you should consider it too.

I'm a Senior Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, writing in my personal capacity. More than 600 colleagues and I signed an open letter asking Sundar Pichai not to put our AI models on classified networks. The deal was signed anyway. I learned about it from the press.

I work at Google DeepMind. This won't make me popular. But it's all public reporting: 2014: DeepMind reportedly sold to Google on conditions: no military use, independent oversight 2026: a Pentagon contract for "any lawful government purpose" Not one safeguard survived intact
Collage titled "Trust is not Governance — an essay from inside Google DeepMind, written in personal capacity."

A 2014 memorandum, "Conditions of the Acquisition," lists: military applications of DeepMind technology banned; deployment decisions before an independent ethics board (as reported in Mallaby's The Infinity Machine).

Red threads lead to a 2026 U.S. Department of Defense agreement for classified networks reading "any lawful government purpose," with safety settings and filters adjusted at the government's request and no contractor veto (reported terms, The Information, Apr. 2026).

Below: a 2018 AI Principles strip ("no weapons, no surveillance") stamped DROPPED 2025, and a Project Mario 2016–2021 tag stamped ABANDONED.

"No slavery whatsoever" is a very strong statement I only bring it up to remind us that in 2026, many government entities in America still use slave labor, and we all just pretend that it's not, which makes me wonder what historians will say about 21st century America in a few thousand years

In addition to being illegal and immoral, this is also how you get increasingly radicalized and disruptive protests. If an entirely legitimate and peaceful protest gets punished anyway, no reason not to go further.

"RPP reinforces the notion that vehicle owners have a primary claim to the curb space in their neighborhood." If this is true, and you have big plans to reclaim street space, then go for it. It's really hard to apply any type of rationality to Car Brain tho. The same people will be angry both ways

BREAKING: in June 2026, *every single one* of the 1,062 refugees admitted in the U.S. were white South Africans. In FY 2026, the U.S. has admitted a total of 7,727 white South Africans, three Afghans (back in November), and nobody else. For reference, the U.S. admitted 100,060 refugees in 2024.

Anyway, if the USMNT ever want to be world class we need MLS academies to be much bigger and have way more openings for lower- and middle-class children. It's true but makes you a bore at parties so it's the perfect fact for Bluesky.

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

I mean, a foundational tradition from which other traditions follow is the one where the Pope is the supreme leader of the church through the apostolic succession. Not sure you're a "traditionalist" if you break that one

much our country, including our elites, live in a farcical anti-reality where Trump's was running on "secure the border, throw out the criminals" and Biden was running on "open borders." In reality Trump actually supported "mass ethnic cleansing" and Biden ran on "secure the border"
