Thanks for the heads up. With the abundance of Common Fleabane on site, another previously overlooked #panspecies for the Warren. A few singles found on the underside of leaves, didn't check flower bases but by late summer large colonies may be present per influentialpoints.com/Gallery/Ovat...

Braved the holiday makers at Dawlish Warren today (late afternoon) in hope of finding some Autumn Lady's-tresses (Spiranthes spiralis). I was pleased to find some, but I fear they have been affected by the heatwaves this year. #WildFlowerHour

Red Data Book Lagoon Snout cranefly Geranomyia bezzii. Dawlish Warren, Devon last night. 25 newly eclosed flies found amongst Salicornia. It has been suggested that this species has peaks of activity in the tidal cycle. With the full moon this evening this may be evidence of this. Thx Kev Rylands.

Species-rich reedfen at Dawlish Warren, S. Devon. The National Vegetation Classification is a poor tool for describing wetland plant communities like this because the reference data is so Norfolk-centric, leaving many British fens without a meaningful nomenclature.

The first Alexanders Straw Aethes deaurana of the year on the wing this weekend. Worth checking stands of the food plant, especially in Devon & Dorset, for this rapidly increasing species.
