Don't trust "AI" and also realize that the push to have "AI" in everything happened because some tech people wanted to get rich and other tech people didn't want others to get rich without them, and now they've all spent too much money on a bad product and are trying to scramble out of the hole.

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.
Excerpt from a public letter Roald Dahl wrote encouraging people to vaccinate their children.

Olivia, my eldest daughter, caught measles when she was seven years old. As the illness took its usual course I can remember reading to her often in bed and not feeling particularly alarmed about it. Then one morning, when she was well on the road to recovery, I was sitting on her bed showing her how to fashion little animals out of coloured pipe-cleaners, and when it came to her turn to make one herself, I noticed that her fingers and her mind were not working together and she couldn’t do anything.

“Are you feeling all right?” I asked her.

“I feel all sleepy,” she said.

In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead.

The measles had turned into a terrible thing called measles encephalitis and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. That was twenty-four years ago in 1962, but even now, if a child with measles happens to develop the same deadly reaction from measles as Olivia did, there would still be nothing the doctors could do to help her.

On the other hand, there is today something that parents can do to make sure that this sort of tragedy does not happen to a child of theirs. They can insist that their child is immunized against measles. I was unable to do that for Olivia in 1962 because in those days a reliable measles vaccine had not been discovered. Today a good and safe vaccine is available to every family and all you have to do is to ask your doctor to administer it.

A warm toned digital illustration on a dark background. A pale, mammalian creature with closed eyes bares its carnivorous maw, held wide open. A star with a happy smile sits between its teeth, more featureless stars floating above it. A large flower stalk sits over the creature’s head, and small, simplistic mammals leap over it. The bottom left features a small antlered deer with a star above its back. Below the large, main creature reads “WE HAVE ALWAYS SURVIVED AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO” in a horizontal text. To the right of it in a vertical text reads “OUT OF DEFIANCE AND OUT OF LOVE”. Together both texts frame the lower right side of the artwork.

This jewel box is Westerlund 1, a dense cluster of young, massive, ultra-luminous stars. If we lived in the middle of this cluster, we'd see hundreds of stars as bright as the full Moon in our sky. 🧪 esawebb.org/images/potm2...
Westerlund 1 is an impressive example of a super star cluster: it contains hundreds of very massive stars, some shining with a brilliance of almost one million Suns and others two thousand times larger than the Sun (as large as the orbit of Saturn). Indeed, if the Solar System was located at the heart of this remarkable cluster, our sky would be full of hundreds of stars as bright as the full Moon. It appears to be the most massive compact young cluster yet identified in the Milky Way galaxy: astronomers believe that this extreme cluster contains between 50 000 and 100 000 times the mass of the Sun, yet all of its stars are located within a region less than six light-years across.
