btw I also got some prints of the original star stag and some other digital work made up! It's been a bit hectic lately with an exhibition deadline and whipping up ceramic work for market prep so I've been slowly chipping away at documenting and uploading stuff to the online store.

A work in progress featuring a black clay ceramic creature with a long tail and single white horn. White underglaze brushed over it is being carved away to shape its eyes, stripes, and other markings. It rests on foot on top of a log.

The past week has been busy with some deadlines but finally got around to taking some photos of these star stag tote bags locally printed by the fantastic Resonance Printing! These are available via my online store ( miholics-shop.ca / link in bio )

An off white tote back featuring a black ink illustration featuring a bounding stag, the ends of its antlers taking on the shape of stars. Another star sits above its head, more stars surrounding the deer. Many simple little drawings in a rock art style with more star horned stags are by the upper left and bottom right of the animal. indigo rose cherry tomatoes are so visually fun to look at, the sun causes them to tan to that deep, dark purple (also those silly little tan lines), very tasty too

dark purple, nearly black tomatoes on the vine. my hand holds two ripe ones; the flesh has taken on a red-ish hue, and where the leaves covered the fruit at the base of the stem are red tan lines.

A guildie left a silicone trilobite press mould (top side only) on the communal shelf! Needless to say I did a pressing and should do more, first photo is sides trimmed only, other two are some details added, this is all still a wip! I've made trilobites before and this certainly speeds things up

US shipping on pause due to new tariffs 🫩🤧

US shipping on pause due to the 50% tariff on Canadian goods going into effect on the 19th - this will stack onto the current two tariffs which already add a 5-25% duty rate.

For example my $40cad T-shirt will have $30.60cad worth of tariffs ($29usd and $22.02usd respectively that the customer would have to pay for on top of shipping)

I do have lettermail shipping for mini prints and stickers open however until the 18th, after that I will only be able to take lettermail orders through email as lettermail is considered duty free but Shopify doesn't have the systems to implement it.

I doubt this will last long given how terrible of an idea this is and implode within a couple of months so fingers crossed 🤞

Broke in my new tablet with some Cetitan and Cetoddle - I love a good critter that gives me early whale vibes (also their shiny versions so had to include that) #pokemon

An illustration of cetitan, a bipedal whale like pokemon. I depict it with paw pads and claws on its front arms / flippers and feet. It has a whiskery snout, five large horns on its head / jaws, and long teeth with blunted ends.
It watches over three cetoddle younglings (only with a single horn and a few teeth), the left one bowing down on all fours to playfully try and wake the peacefully napping one in the middle and exposing its white belly to the viewer. Further back to the right of them is another cetoddle, mouth open in an excited call before it will go on to hurriedly toddle over.
They are illustrated in a full array of bright colours with contrasting dark linework and set against a simple off white background.

I just had to (hopefully temporarily) close down EU shipping due to the new PPWR legislature. Just found out Trump is rolling out section 338 - 50% duties on goods come Aug 19th. The IEEPA tariffs that were struck down by the Supreme Court were only recently replaced by MFN and Section 301 tariffs-

🌄 Star Stags 🌌 I was very inspired by the Tuva Republic petroglyphs, two of the little stag depictions are copies (first two, top left) while the rest are my own drawings. I'm very keen on getting this design printed on tote bags if there was interest! :)

the old tariffs i've dealt with being replaced by "forced labour tariffs" as an excuse to push through trump's latest threats is so ridiculous, like ah yes the nation famously know to utilize modern slavery with incarcerated people and treating migrant workers like trash sure is teaching me a lesson

The USTR has finalized the Section 301 forced labor tariffs, which apply to goods entered into the U.S. on or after July 24, 2026. These are the replacement tariffs we described in our previous email, effectively replacing the expiring 10% Section 122 surcharge with rates of 10% or 12.5%, depending on country of origin.

What this means for your billing: No action is needed. Because Zonos bills you for duties based on when your shipments arrive in the U.S., the finalized Section 301 rates apply precisely to shipments arriving July 24 or later, and shipments arriving before July 24 are billed under the Section 122 rate.

What this means in your quotes: These tariffs have appeared in your Item Quoter calculations labeled as "Section 301 Forced Labor Tariff (this is a proposed tariff, subject to USTR's final action, and may change)." Now that USTR has taken final action, that label will simply read "Section 301 Forced Labor Mitigation Tariff."

Tried out some slip inlays for fun, definitely learned it's best to do it at a larger scale since it's hard to get the proper carving depth on tiny details without overdoing the line thickness - touchups had to be made after carving off the slip but I'm very interested in pursuing inlays further 👀
