Another crash and injury on Spruce St. This one taking out a streetlight, an Indego bike corral, and sending another person to the hospital. Our city cannot prevent all reckless driving, but our city can provide for the safety of our most vulnerable. It’s time for concrete protection.

so if we're keeping track. last week a drive recklessly sped down spruce, flipped their car. earlier this week a driver drove their SUV into an Indego station. and, just today, a driver flipped their car over in a bike lane on 22nd.

Last, this is why descriptive work is underrated. No preposterous IV, no incomprehensible structural black box, there is just a new fact about the world. If the descriptive work is done well — and it is not easy — the fact permanently enters everyone's headspace and must be contended with.

At the Transit Costs Project, we're very close (as in, this calendar year) to releasing a Northeast Corridor proposal; we have trip times to the minute and targeted infrastructure investments on a budget that the feds have to get NY-Boston and NY-DC down to around 2 hours each.
