Probably not gonna be able to do a whole month of horror movies again this year but I am 2 for 2 so far rewatching the first 2 silent hill movies which are a real mixed bag.

Letterboxd review for Silent Hill 2006 3.5 stars liked rewatched October 1st 2026
Slightly over long but there is such a world of difference in Cristoph Ganz at a point where he's still somewhat in touch contemporary aesthetics and allow to use the imagery of Silent Hill as building blocks for something that works in line with his weird ass misogynist sensibilities instead of trying to contort a story so diametrically opposed to his whole shtick while also stupposedly recreating all the stuff you remember from the video game you liked. Like a lot of the same film making quirks are present in this and Return to Silent Hill but put to much better use cause it's not shot on a third rate 2026 digital movie camera and there's more than shoe string budget for costuming and set design. Anyone who's ever complained about this being an unfaithful adaptation should get hit in the head with hammers
