If you're gonna attempt to cover something like this yourself as an outlet without relying on one of the specialist sites, it's frankly the least you could do. Translation inherently involves putting words in people's mouths and it USED to be the norm to have Japanese speakers in-house decades ago.

Numerous people have already been pointing out for days that western reporting on this is an embarrassingly inaccurate game of telephone, so I'll instead reiterate that it doesn't cost that much to just have a real translator on standby to vet such reports. I know budgets are tight, but come on.

The situation with FurAffinity is pretty amazing. Advertisers threatened their advertising revenue because they considered Plus Sized characters and characters HUGGING to be adult content. So FA said fuck off, and in two days raised their entire yearly funding. Advertisers are so bullshit stupid.

Afterwards, be positive if they react understandingly. And leave your harsher expressions of disappointment to if they stick to their guns by eg. posting a second piece. Then just unfollow, block, move on. No reason to keep pestering them further than that, it'll probably only fall on deaf ears.

The whole Malfoid art trend is very disappointing but people definitely should be giving more grace to (esp non-western) artists at least for the first time. Keep any comments clear and polite (eg. Just saw an ad for the new Castlevania game and I think it's the WORST ad for a video game I've ever seen.
