Was out working at the park where there's been a tent for the last day or so. A white City of Toronto car saw fit to approach the people there by cruising over the park grounds and circling to get to it. With Queen Street RIGHT THERE. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I had a memory of Virginia Graham co-hosting that show, but it turns out she was one of the rotating roster of female panelists who would grill a male guest about current social issues.

There was a daytime talk show in the early '70s called Mantrap. (Best known for where spouses Alan Hamel and Suzanne Somers met.) It had a logo sequence with the title snapping together like a bear trap with a sound like a cell door slamming. Fucked me up when I was about 4.

The problem with this entire “talking across difference” approach to politics is that it assumes a shared consensus about democracy that no longer exists b/w the 2 main 🇺🇸 political parties. You don’t need to have lunch with people who don’t believe in free elections, equal rights, & the rule of law.

Democracy is a system in which parties lose elections

And I really do think that's what most of our disabled comrades are complaining about, insofar as they are. Not that we haven't eliminated all health risks in our spaces but that we don't behave like this stuff matters for all of us as a movement...

*We're" the ones who force them into having to consider their health individually when we decline to think about it collectively, rather than working with our disabled comrades to make reasonable choices re: weighing risks. Something they have more experience with anyway!

And yeah when you put people in that position, you are only gonna hear from certain people. You aren't gonna hear from people who don't want to talk about their personal needs in an organizing context, they'll just be quiet and protect themselves. Which is a big loss.
