I'm in NB bc my birth mother's partner died last month & yesterday was a brilliant event in his memory. Among his many accomplishments, he played a huge part in developing & maintaining a nature preserve in West NB so today I hiked its "easiest" trail for the 1st time. I survived. 😊❤️

My dad once (green Ringer footnote which leads to "At the 21st birthday party") paid a stripper four racks in three hours because she gave him a hug when he walked in. OK, she eventually gave him more than a hug, but that initial embrace was all it took to pin him and his wallet down for the night. He told me he was in love and that he'd met my "new stepmom". (That was before they took his fingerprints under iPhone flashlights to make sure he didn't dodge the credit card bill, but he doesn't remember that.) Today, Minister MacKinnon made a (link) statement on the future of the airport stating that our focus is only on the approved safety enhancements. I was pleased to see it because it reflects the strong advocacy of the 416 Caucus and the concerns many of us have raised on behalf of Torontonians.

Toronto’s waterfront is one of our city’s most important public assets. Tens of thousands of people call it home in one of Canada’s most densely populated urban communities. Over the last number of months, there has been significant public uncertainty about the future of this airport. Torontonians were looking to our caucus for leadership. We earn their trust by governing transparently, acting accountably, and protecting our environment and public assets.

I want to share with you publicly the (link) Spadina—Harbourfront Consultation Report and (link) the Future of the Waterfront: Billy Bishop Airport Survey Analysis which was done using independent analysis. Together, they provide a clear record of what Spadina—Harbourfront residents have said since the beginning, and what I have used to advocate for you in Ottawa.

The message from Spadina—Harbourfront is clear: Toronto’s waterfront must grow with our community, not at its expense. The City of Toronto must be a partner in determining its future, in the long term.

Went to the Islands with my lil’ camp chair and my laptop and did some work. Along with learning not to go anywhere near Fan Fest on my way home, I learned 1) swans are actually fucking huge, and 2) swans can stand on one leg for a ridiculous amount of time. (This unit stood like this way longer.)

Welcome to my delightful tax routine for the past idk over a decade now, which I do acknowledge is more than somewhat my fault. 🤪

1. Get my tax stuff (🇨🇦 & 🇺🇸) together late bc I suck (fun fact: can get a 🇺🇸 extension to Oct. 15!)
2. Upload stuff to the expat tax specialists who just do US taxes now
3. Ask my 🇨🇦 tax lady who used to work directly for them if she can still access the files & do my return. She immediately says 👍🏻
5. My 🇺🇸 tax lady sez she’ll get back to me in maaaaybe a month.
6. 🇨🇦 tax lady finishes, receiving my eternal thanks bc she rocks
7. Ask 🇺🇸 tax lady if she can get back to me sooner, she sez 🤷🏼‍♀️
8. Ask Customer Service if I can get a 🇺🇸 tax person who can finish sooner
9. They get back to 🇺🇸 tax lady who sez fiiiiiiine I’ll get it done sooner
