2) and 3) are intimately linked, in that the BBC (the organisation that really matters in the modern environment) treats 'claims by rival parties' as the operating frame for how it covers everything. The failure from Labour and the Conservatives to say 'this stuff is bad' is really, really bad.

However much you hate British media, it is not enough www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/09...
How having a disability became cool
Young women, nicknamed ‘sickfluencers’, are turning chronic illness into a lifestyle trend and entrenching a culture of economic inactivity

Young women are also more likely to get caught up in “social contagion” – the spontaneous spread of behaviours or emotions previously observed by sociologists in “outbreaks” of bulimia, self-harm and transgender ideology. What may have otherwise been transitory feelings are seized upon and obsessed over until they form a central pillar of a person’s identity. A chronic-illness influencer won’t want to get “better” any more than a female-bodied transgender person would want to re-identify with their sex.

With all respect to the BBC, the reason this story "matters" is not about whether it distracts from Reform's conference. It "matters" because it is important our leaders are not conspiring to break the law.

I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling. They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.
A screenshot of an email viewed in dark mode with the subject line "Google DMCA Violation." The email from Google informs the recipient that they have received a notification under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) that some of their materials allegedly infringe on copyrights. It explains the removal process, mentions that notice details will be posted on Lumen, warns against repeated violations, and lists one affected Google Drive URL at the bottomA nearly identical mobile browser screenshot of the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. It shows a search for the same Amnesty International UK resources URL, resulting in the same message: "This URL has been excluded from the Wayback Machine."A mobile browser screenshot of the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. Tonight BBC radio 4 ran an hour-long advert for “suicidal empathy” (the idea and book) on the Moral Maze, describing its author simply as a Canadian professor, without mentioning his enthusiasm for Great Replacement ideology nor calls for civil war in the UK. That does not seem ok.
Elon Must amplifying a tweet by Gad Saad “There will be civil war”

Musk’s comment: Civil war in Britain is inevitable. Just a question of when Tweet from Gad Saad:

What you are seeing in Britain is precisely what I have been warning about for decades. It is not rocket science. If you take two cultures that are fundamentally antithetical to each other, you'll eventually find out that progressive coexistence is not going to work well. There is 1,400 years of unbelievably clear data that Westerners are choosing to ignore. Read chapters 6 and 7 of The Parasitic Mind and it will all become clear for you. Cure yourself of Ostrich Parasitic Syndrome. See the world as it is rather than the Unicornia that you wish existed.

One thing I wish people would realize is just how central JK Rowling is to the entire anti-trans ecosystem. Looking at a network node analysis of the top 200 anti-trans X accounts, she is the most central figure spanning both sides of the Atlantic from Republicans to Labour.
A network graph visualization on a dark background showing connections between various accounts. The central, highly connected node is labeled "J.K. Rowling," with lines radiating out to many other nodes color-coded by region (UK, US, etc.). A detail panel on the right displays stats for her account, including her role as "Author & commentator," an in-degree of 153, an out-degree of 84, and 14 million followers.A scatter plot graph on a dark background comparing accounts based on "followers (log)" on the x-axis and "in-degree" on the y-axis. The data points are color-coded by region. J.K. Rowling is highlighted as a major outlier in the top right corner, possessing the highest number of followers and the highest in-degree. Other labeled points lower on the graph include various politicians, individuals, and campaign organizations.

Again, so reflective of why UK media is - for the most part! - an actively hostile space, particularly for marginalised people. It’s a space where you can’t ever speak out against those who are trying to make your life worse - not while they’re living and not while they’re dead, either.

I come back to this tumblr post again and again
Tumblr post by sunderwight: The current AI situation is like if the people who were pushing NFTs had successfully gotten everyone to start referring to any and all digital transactions as an NFT, thus allowing them to pretend that things like online shopping, downloadable video games, bank transfers, etc were closely related to convincing middle-aged would-be techies to invest serious money in ugly digital paintings, and hold the former examples up in defense of the latter any time someone pointed out that the whole NFT thing was a racket. What do you mean NFTs are bad, don't you want disabled people to be able to use their phones to have medication delivered to their doorstep? Wow. Horrible of you, really.

"the graphics have caught up with our imagination" is intended as a compliment but is inadvertently damning of the whole project. Yeah, the imagination of Halo no longer exceeds a high-resolution tree. Cool.
The original Halo presented an alluring and mysterious setting that combined alien ruins with Pacific Northwest-inspired natural grandeur, but the level of detail back then simply hadn't yet caught up with the imagination. That's resolved here, with a gorgeous visual update that makes the whole campaign pop with excitement.

Aside from anything else here: it’s a bit odd that all the lads knew instantly that Streeting’s leadership hopes were wrecked, the moment those Mandelson/Epstein emails came out. And yet here is in a senior defence role, promising to make Britain even more obsequious for the Donald shrug 🤷🏼‍♂️

Defence Secretary promises modernisation of forces and invites Hegseth to UK summit
By Camilla Turner
SUNDAY POLITICAL EDITOR
WES STREETING is seeking to repair the UK's special relationship with Donald Trump by "working together" to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and promising to modernise the Armed Forces.
In an attempt to turn the page on the relations that had soured during the outbreak of the Iran war, the Defence Secretary told Pete Hegseth, his US counterpart, that he wanted to collaborate on building a global coalition to safeguard shipping through the vital trade route.
Mr Streeting and Mr Hegseth discussed proposals for a conference in London this week, bringing together Nato allies, defence ministers and military commanders from up to 40 nations, including Mr Hegseth and the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Dan Caine. The Europeans previously held regular meetings without the Americans, however this summit would aim to reconcile all sides following a difficult few months.
"The Defence Secretary had a very warm conversation with Secretary Hegseth," a source close to Mr Street-ing said. "They discussed the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and how allies can work together."
The pair also discussed "defence investment and the UK's commitment to meeting our Nato commitments", the source added.
Mr Streeting emphasised to Mr Heg-seth the UK's plan to modernise and reform the Armed Forces in a move that would make them more relevant in an age of drone warfare.
During a speech at Farnborough Air-show last week, Mr Streeting said the UK "was building an integrated system of crewed and autonomous platforms,

Just asked to fill out a survey for Tumblr about their Premium services. So, here's my answer for their final open answer question, "Is there anything else you want to tell us?" *cracks knuckles*
I dunno man, the Internet just sucks now. It’s ten years past its prime, 'cause all the sites that created the things that people talked about on Tumblr are gone.

Sites like Tumblr, but also Shitty-X/Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest — all of that was only good because the rest of the Internet existed. Tumblr's the least bad, don't mistake me, but y'all are the big box megamarts that crowded out the corner stores where people hung out and made the cool stuff they wanted to share. Without them, all sites like you can do is reference each other, echos of echos, when it’s not a sales pitch for some drop-shipped garbage or AI slop.

The internet's dead, my dudes, and it's not coming back for $6.99/month.

"There was a mix of scientific excitement & a sense of historical justice in proving that these women were more than just the silent, decorative figures they had been assumed to be."
"Princess Ita was a young woman aged between 28 and 34 with strong upper-body muscle attachments, suggesting she habitually used weapons like maces or daggers," says Hashesh.

"Princess Khenmet was a woman in her late 30s or 40s who showed signs of thinning bones, but had very robust ligament attachments.

"Princess Itaweret was a young woman aged between 20 and 34 who survived broken ribs and foot fractures; her skeleton shows she was a skilled archer."

The princesses' bodies show many signs of active, rigorous lifestyles, and wear-and-tear specific to the weapons they were buried with. (Hashesh et al., Front. Environ. Archaeol., 2026)
