Huge effort from the Lab into the mechanics of the mysterious #ubiquitin like protein FAT10 – taking structural snapshots of FAT10 activation by UBA6 and transfer onto UBE2Z plus really interesting insights into InsP6 regulating FAT10 conjugation pathways: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Structural determinants for FAT10 activation and transfer from UBA6 to E2 enzymes - Nature Communications
Cryo-EM captures FAT10 activation and transfer from UBA6 to E2 UBE2Z, revealing FAT10 monopolises UBA6. Efficient transfer requires E2 engagement of both FAT10 UBL domains, particularly UBL2, and co-o...

Latest work from the Elliott Group provides exciting insights into FAT10 biology where they use #cryoEM and biochemistry to uncover how FAT10 co-opts the #ubiquitin machinery:

This one feels special: our latest work on subtelomeric heterochromatin is now on www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1.... This story was driven by the virtuoso PhD work of Agnisrota Mazumder @agnisrota.bsky.social, co-mentored with @al-sadylab.bsky.social, and grew out of our #MSCA Cell2Cell network.

Discrete Subdomains Establish Epigenetic Diversity in Subtelomeric Heterochromatin
Subtelomeres are imperfect repeats adjacent to telomeres that are repressed by heterochromatin. Although essential for genome integrity, their repetitive nature has thwarted dissection of local hetero...

Thrilled to share the first paper from my PhD, which is now peer-reviewed and published open-access in @narjournal.bsky.social! 🧬 Some of you saw the bioRxiv preprint a while back; after peer review, it's a bit updated and now out in NAR.

Help please! We need to do some large(ish) cell culture inhibiting E-cadherin with a monoclonal antibody. Does anyone have the DECMA-1 hybridoma cell line so we could purify our own antibody? or a similar monoclonal that would do the job. Any help greatly appreciated, just DM me. Please repost!

🧬 New preprint! SNU-Seq maps nascent transcription at single-nucleotide resolution using 4sU labeling. Together with sf4sU-Seq, it shows how epigenetically primed chromatin rapidly activates transcription after IFN-γ. 📄 doi.org/10.1101/2021... #SNUSeq #RNAseq

Single Nucleotide Resolution 4sU Sequencing (SNU-Seq) reveals the transcriptional responsiveness of an epigenetically primed human genome
Genomes are pervasively transcribed, leading to stable and unstable transcripts that influence 3-dimensional genome organisation and gene regulation. High sensitivity and nucleotide resolution are req...
