I’m incredibly frustrated by planners who seem to think that the form or type of housing is what determines if a neighborhood is ‘livable’. People are what make a neighborhood! The formal qualities of an area the vast majority of people can’t afford to live in aren’t very interesting.

I don’t think a 21X increase in the cost to get a tanker out of the Persian Gulf with lower total exports than before the war is an achievement. And I think it’s odd that so much of the press has been covering it as if we should see this as positive, with “Better Than You Think”-style “explainers.”

One thing about Copenhagen is that there's tons of dense housing but you *never* find it fronting a busy road with cars racing past, which describes about 90% of the apartments in the US. They manage to make it feel tucked away, private, cozy. (These are all from Sluseholmen, my dream neighborhood.)

June Hunter is a Canadian photographer. She specializes in the local crow population. For over fifteen years, Hunter has been photographing the same groups of crows in her neighborhood almost daily. She knows many of the birds personally and follows them on her popular Urban Nature Blog.
The fine art photograph shown is originally titled Solitary Crow. The work was created by digitally combining a photograph of a bare winter tree and a crow with texture images of elements such as an atmospheric sky and lichen.
