June Hunter is a Canadian photographer. She specializes in the local crow population. For over fifteen years, Hunter has been photographing the same groups of crows in her neighborhood almost daily. She knows many of the birds personally and follows them on her popular Urban Nature Blog.
The fine art photograph shown is originally titled Solitary Crow. The work was created by digitally combining a photograph of a bare winter tree and a crow with texture images of elements such as an atmospheric sky and lichen.

Harald Sohlberg (1869-1935, Norway) created works that evoke the wild nature of the Nordic landscape, from the softness of its flower fields to the harsh beauty of its winters. The often dusk/twilight periods in which Sohlberg's landscapes are set creates a certain mystical mood. Fiskerhuset (1906)

Gösta Hübinette (Sweden, 1897–1980) was known for the extensive, artisanal manipulation of his photographs. He had a strong preference for atmospheric, melancholic landscapes. Within Pictorialism, the goal was not to record reality in a purely documentary fashion, but to convey a painterly quality.
The work is a classic example of Pictorialism, a style in which photography is approached like painting, often featuring an atmospheric, dark, and dreamy tonality. It depicts a hilly landscape at twilight or by moonlight, with two trees and a prehistoric monument (such as a dolmen or *hunebed*) in the center. The signature "G. Hübinette 1928" is visible in the bottom right of the print.

Andrei Dobrynin is a contemporary Russian artist (1985). Dobrynin has a passion for painting directly from nature. His work can be divided into two extremes: ‘en plein air’ painting and nocturnes. In addition to his intimate smaller oil paintings on canvas, Dobrynin creates massive, imposing murals.
The work depicts an atmospheric evening or night landscape (a nocturne) featuring tree silhouettes and a young crescent moon against a blue twilight sky with clouds.

Michiel Schrijver (1957) is a Dutch painter associated with the independent realists and magical realism. For Schrijver, creating a painting is a form of journeying through his own inner world. His canvases depict dreamlike, imaginary landscapes and cities that run parallel to our own reality.
Visible is a narrow gorge with water, a small rowing boat with figures in the foreground, and a procession of elephants ascending a slope near rocky cliffs and tents in the distance.

Itō Sōzan (born in 1884 – year of death unknown) is an intriguing figure in Japanese art history. Although he left behind beautiful work, he is one of the most mysterious artists of the shin-hanga movement (the modernization of traditional woodblock printing in the early interwar period).

This iconic image is the illustration "She held tight to the White Bear," made in 1914 by the Danish illustrator Kay Nielsen. It was created for the classic Norwegian fairy tale "East of the Sun and West of the Moon". Nielsen worked in the tradition of Art Nouveau and the Golden Age of Illustration.
This Art Nouveau illustration depicts a young woman with a long blonde braid riding on a large white bear. She sits upright in a simple white dress, riding toward a dark pine forest and a massive, pale lunar arc on the left. To the right, a tall, slender birch tree stretches to the top of the frame.

Henry Farrer (London,1843) emigrated to the US in 1863. Influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites he painted highly detailed still lifes and landscapes. His style changed radically after 1870; he became a pioneer of Tonalism, a style centered on atmosphere, misty landscapes and the subtle moods of nature.
The painting Hillside (1875) depicts a vast, tranquil landscape beneath a clear blue sky.
On the left a irregularly shaped tree stands on a rolling hill. The hill is covered with tall grass and features subtle details of colorful wildflowers.
The hill overlooks a vast, golden-yellow field or expanse of grain. This field stretches horizontally to the distant horizon.
A cluster of dark green shrubs and lower-growing trees forms a natural transition between the hill and the bright field.

Alfred Sisley (1839–1899) was one of the most steadfast pioneers of French Impressionism, even though he kept his British nationality. While friends such as Monet and Renoir experimented with other styles, Sisley remained faithful to pure Impressionist landscape painting throughout his career.
The painting depicts a summer landscape near Louveciennes in France. In the flower-filled meadow in the foreground, two small girls wearing straw hats and picking flowers are painted. A wooden fence divides the composition, while in the background, rolling hills planted with crops rise up beneath a lively, cloudy sky.

This iconic landscape features the historic ‘seinhuisje’ on the Kaapsduin dune in West-Terschelling. The photograph was taken by the renowned Dutch photographer Jeroen Hofman, who’s working method is that he photographs from a great height, often standing in the basket of an aerial work platform.
The photograph depicts a vast, picturesque dune landscape on an overcast day.
Positioned exactly in the center of the image, atop a high dune, stands a small wooden cottage (the ‘Seinhuisje’) featuring a striking orange-red tiled roof and a small chimney.
The photo was taken from an elevated vantage point (bird's-eye view). This creates a view looking slightly down onto the landscape, evoking a sense of depth and layering.

Vivian Maier (1926–2009) was an American street photographer whose extraordinary body of work was unknown during her lifetime. She lived a private life, working as a nanny for over forty years in Chicago and New York. In her spare time, she walked the city streets documenting the world around her.
The photograph "Wilmette, IL (Girl Floating)," taken in June 1968, is one of the most dreamlike and poetic images in Vivian Maier’s archive. It was taken on the shores of Lake Michigan in Wilmette, Illinois—an affluent suburb north of Chicago where Maier was working as a nanny at the time.
The black-and-white photograph shows a young girl floating on her back in the calm, unruffled waters of Lake Michigan.
Maier photographed this scene from her characteristic low vantage point.

Lieke van der Vorst is a Dutch illustrator, working mostly with materials like colored pencil, pens and oil. Nature is a recurring theme in her work, capturing a sense of positivity while still addressing serious issues. She uses her illustrations to make people more aware of the little things.
A person is shown from the side, climbing up red steps. They wear a black patterned skirt with floral embroidery, striped socks, and black shoes. Their upper body is completely hidden behind a massive, overflowing bouquet of bright yellow sunflowers.
A dark, stylized dog sits calmly on one of the lower steps on the left, nestled behind a sunflower. Near the top right, a black cat is captured mid-leap, stretching upward toward the next step.
Several tall sunflowers grow straight up from the bottom of the frame, overlapping the red staircase and creating depth.

An original artwork from Franco Fontana, an influential Italian pioneer of color landscape photography.
The piece belongs to his famous body of work captured in Basilicata, a southern region of Italy characterized by its rolling hills and dramatic rural topography. Executed during the late 1970s, this series exemplifies his signature abstract, color-field aesthetic where he reduces expansive vistas into painterly, geometric shapes and bands of intense, saturated colors.

Franco Fontana (Italy, 1933) is one of the most important pioneers of artistic color photography. Whether he photographs Puglian hills or skyscrapers in Los Angeles, his images are almost always completely empty of people, transforming the locations into compositions in which color takes centerstage
This is the iconic photo "Basilicata" from 1975 (or sometimes dated as 1978), taken by the famous Italian photographer Franco Fontana. The sculpture is composed of clean, undulating geometric color planes of the Southern Italian landscape in the Basilicata region. The solitary tree in the center serves as a break in the rhythm of the contrasting yellow and green fields.

Karl Axel Pehrson (1921–2005) was one of the most versatile Swedish artists of the 20th century. He enjoyed great fame as a painter, printmaker, sculptor, and designer. From the 1960s onwards, he abandoned pure abstraction. He developed the dreamy, highly detailed style for which he is best known.
In the foreground, detailed, fantastic flowers and gnarled tree stumps can be seen. In the background, trees are sharply reflected in the still water of the lake, where a solitary bird swims.

This small painting, on display at the Mauritshuis in The Hague forms a pair with a fruit still life. Together, they are unique in the oeuvre of Jan van Huysum who primarily painted large and lavish bouquets . Van Huysum's still lifes were popular – he was one of the best-paid painters of his time.
Seemingly carelessly, some flowers lie on the corner of a marble tabletop. The eye-catcher is a large rose with delicate petals. Two butterflies land on the flowers.
