Update: Both Joan Baxter and Jennifer Henderson were escorted out of the EverWind press conference by security. Both are older women who present no physical threat to anyone. Both behave as reporters do. But we (the Halifax Examiner) write critically about EverWind.

Growing up rural, the main complaint was really "why do Ontario and Quebec get to decide everything?" I think a lot of it comes down to rural Alberta dominates provincially, the dont care to understand why it doesn't translate federally

I should clarify, dosage is 10g/day but needs to be taken in advance and continuously. It takes about a week to build up in your system. My family's main trigger is air pressure changes. Kelly could feel/get aura exactly when it changed 12mbar in 12hrs.

Any brand of creatine monohydrate should do. We buy Leanfit from Costco. There is research from U of Regina on creatine benefitting brain health as we age, especially for pre/post menopausal people, which is why we tried it. YMMV, but it's cheap, available in grocery stores, no side effects

Creatine, 10g/day. My youngest had a migraine for almost all of January 2025, and spent 4 days at the IWK. Magnesium, B2, and Coenzyme Q10 are they typically prescribed, and they help a bit. My wife also gets migraines from air pressure and geomagnetic activity. Creatine cured them both in a week

I think I started with 10 seeds, which made 4 seedlings of which 2 survived, to make 1 fruit. I think I can find a better location for them next time though. I think the only reason I had any success was burying a terracotta dollar so it always had water.

I tried growing a muskmelon in my garden this year. It produced 1 viable melon. I was worried as it didn't seem to be ripening properly. I decided to cut it open, and it looks way better than I expected. It's not as sweet as cantaloupe, but not bad.

Okay, I must have misread something in your thread. There is definitely growing pains with Edmonton's infill, but they're solvable problems that throwing away a zoning plan won't fix

a little louder for the cheap seats in the back
One of the biggest myths is that men rape by mistake. Like, "Oh, they need consent training." But research is very clear: Sexual violence is not a mistake. It is an intentionally made decision by people who know they don't have consent. They just don't prioritize consent over things like status, power, domination, and sexual gratification.
For my research, I got a certificate of confidentiality from the National Institutes of Health, so my notes couldn't be subpoenaed. One of the reasons I call them perpetrators in my work is because every single person I interviewed confessed in that context. The first question I would ask them was, "When you received that email from Title IX that you were under investigation, did you know what it was about?" Every perpetrator I interviewed said "yes." If sexual assault were a miscommunication, you would be wondering, What have I possibly done wrong? That is not the way that any of them reacted because they knew.

Guess I need to update this post from a couple of weeks ago. Is that $70 billion in subsidies? (30 ongoing + 40 for pipeline) So the entire value of o&g to the Canadian economy is given straight back to big oil? Absolutely corrupt behaviour & a climate crime.
Fun fact. Canada's arts & culture gdp is basically the same as oil & gas at about $70 billion.

Direct funding for the arts & culture is about $700 million annually

albertaviews.ca/arts-publicl...

It's up to $30 billion for oil & gas depending on how you count

When explaining why we should not cork they have repeatedly told participants that if a driver was to step on their gas pedal while a group of cyclists were in front of them, it would be our fault. This is not a concern for cycling safety but a justification for violence against us.

Hyper-fast acceleration is dangerous as well as pointless. As I wrote in 2024, the 0-to-60 metric is outdated and needs to die. No driver on a public road needs to go from 0 to 60 mph in under 8 seconds. Even the slowest car on the market is more than quick enough.
fastcompany.com
How fast can a car go from 0 to 60? It really doesn't matter
The auto industry has pushed this metric for decades. But cars—especially EVs—are so fast that comparing the decimals is pointless and dangerous.

The 2026 @hfxgov.bsky.social road safety annual report: 20 fatal road crashes reported, 20 fatalities by August, an 82% increase in fatal crashes That's not a "mixed picture of #RoadSafety performance", but a complete failure of #VisionZero implementation! visionzerohfx.ghost.io/twenty-death...

Twenty deaths on our streets in 2025 is not 'favourable' progress
If zero means zero, then the most important number in the 2026 Road Safety Annual Report is twenty. Twenty people died on HRM roads in 2025. Everything else is secondary.

The report keeps saying that serious injuries decreased so something must be working. What I think is happening is that it isn't working and the 8 fewer serious injuries became the 9 more fatalities. The whole framing is trying to pat themselves on the back while nothing improves

Can’t stop thinking about how the city gave us a 2m (6’) wide barricade to block off a street that has an entrance that’s about 15m (50’) wide. Good thing we have a lot of traffic cones in our stash!
An extremely wide street with an even wider opening due to weird and bad design. An orange saw horse with “street closed” is placed in the street but there’s still room to drive an enormous vehicle on either side of it. In front of the saw horse are the green conflict markings for a bike lane. The wear pattern on the green paint is telling.

We haven't managed to get the colour to work for oven baking like lasagna. We also do low histamine veggie bullion that stays soft in the freezer.
  Instructions for freezer boullion:
2 C leeks, white and light green parts only, rinsed and sliced

2 C fennel (about 1 bulb), chunked

2 C carrots (about 4 carrots), sliced

1 C celery (about 2 stalk), sliced

1.5 C celery root (about 1 bulb)

1 C onion, sliced

8 large garlic cloves

2 Handful parsley

2 Handful of cilantro

6 sage leaves

2 Sprig of rosemary

2 Pinch of thyme leaves

2 Small knob of turmeric

12 ounces salt

Roughly chop, throw everything through the food processor, add salt after. Freeze in jars.
1 Tbsp (heaping ok) for 2 cups broth

We started doing a low histamine diet for my wife's MCAS. And instant pit makes nomato sauce pretty easy. Below is the recipe we adapted that works for sauce or soup. We found equal amounts of beets and carrots makes the best colour. Timing only works for 6qt or it wrecks the colour.
Instructions for nomayto soup:
1 Tbs olive oil
3+ cloves garlic, chopped
1 onion, diced
2 large carrots, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
2 large beet, peeled and chopped
1 Tbs fresh basil, chopped
1 tsp dried oregano (or 1Tbsp fresh)
1 tsp dried parsley (or 1 Tbsp fresh)
1 Tbs maple syrup
1 – 2 cups broth from veggie boullion
 The juice of 1 lemon

To make nomato soup instead of sauce, use 6 cups broth instead of 2

My instructions:
Set insant pot to saute, put in oil, onion, carrots, celery and let that cook while you are prepping the rest. Add the rest as it's ready, ending with the liquids. Press soup button and seal. Let slow release for 10 min after cycle. Blitz thoroughly with submersible blender. Taste test and adjust if necessary with salt, maple syrup, and lemon juice.

This FOIPOP includes a 55 page email chain where staff only consider how signal changes may or may not delay drivers and ignore concerns about creating pedestrian danger with those changes. The HRM emphatically does not have a systems level approach to road safety.
